Quite simply if the wardens were not in the office and had shut down the computer then they could not give an immediate answer and ringing back was probably always the only option.  Not sure why it was shut down that early though, which seems odd unless
    everybody booked in was there.

Despite everything, the most important issue here is... did David have a good holiday? That's what really matters isn't it? Chilling out with your van, the ones you love and taking in the area helps you forget everything that has gone before... hopefully. Hope you had a great hol David Smile

We had a great few days, Beechwood grange was great, the site is very nicely laid out and the wardens were particularly friendly and helpful.

Back there in May for races in York.

No it was not at all the only option. Please refer to my post above about 'how I would have done it'.

Is there to be no pride in doing a good job any more?

Glad that you had a good time, Dave......but really you should have been able to use the site of your choice and not prevented from doing so because a warden was having her tea.

The mind boggles that anyone could provide such poor service.....

I believe the spikes are still on Micklegate Bar, not currently in use, or the gibbet where Dick Turpin was hung? His cell is empty at the moment!Innocent
