To answer your first question, no, but you in the west Midlands are very grateful for the rain that does fall, you'll be very thirsty if it didn't. As far as caravan sites are concerned there are lots to chose from, Club, cls, or commercial. Come on over
you will be very welcome the mountains and beaches are spectacular.0 -

We stayed here http://www.morris-leisure.co.uk/caravan-parks/riverside-betws-y-coed/gallery.htm which is an AS site. Right in mountains, right in centre of village
and right by train station to the beach. We loved it.0 -
Best site in Wales we have ever stayed on was at Beddgelert. Used to be Forestry Commission, now Camping in the Forest, if you belong to Cand CC, might be a tad cheaper.

If I had a star for every time I've bemoaned the fact that the Caravan Club have seriously neglected the North Wales coast then I would need to change my name to Malcolm.
If you're after a site near Conway or Llandudno then check out the sites on UKcampsite.co.UK or the CL section. Anglesey is well served with a couple of CC sites and ticks my boxes for interesting things to do.
Why don't you check out the thread that Rowena started about Wales. Lots of interesting ideas and Cariadon should be employed by the Tourist Board. Check it out and see what I mean.
