Admiral, I might know some nice sites in Yorkshire to suit, ask if you want to know any. None Club I mean.

Meadow Farm CL is on the York - Scarborough bus route and the bus stops right outside the gate. Alternatively, the Monks Cross Park and ride is a mere 2-3 miles by car.
It's a flat site, with hook up and nothing else. The people there are pleasant but leave you to yourself as a rule.

It will be a 'tad cool' as if the sun is setting over the Scillies from Cape Cornwall, it will only be in the winter months.
Harrumph! you gaze out West from Cape Cornwall, they are in that general direction, and in my dreams, the Sun sets in the West! Whose dream is this anyway!

I know just the site, but it does not have a toilet or shower, but is nearly all H/S. Cherry Tree Cottage Caravan site, just off the York ring road, at Nether Poppleton. Bus stop for York 150 yds from gate, with a bus into town every 1/2 hr. The longer one stops the cheaper the site fees. Although close to the main road we did not notice any excessive traffic noise.

Having lived my working life with just about everything organised to the nth degree, I would love to have more freedom when caravanning in England. When travelling in France unless in real peak periods we can just go wherever we want, and stay or move on.
I am probably wrong, but do not feel this is possible in the UK. We find ourselves meticulously planning our trip taking into account departure and arrival times so not to be wasting time in a motorway service station. Retirement, has given us the opportunity
to just get up an go and see where it takes us. Thanks Scottie 2 for the information on the RCA, we will look on the website. Our slight frustration however, is with going from site to site, or from home to site, and trying to plan the journey. Tomorrow, we are going to Bath and we will not leave home
until 12.00 because we are not aloud to arrive before 2.00. Currently the weather is going to be brilliant tomorrow and we will waste half of the day getting there and then part of the day setting up.0 -
At the risk of bringing down the wrath of the camping God onto my head, caravanners are getting a raw deal for short breaks. Cannot arrive before 12 noon, 1pm, 2pm, got to be off pitch by 12 noon etc.... If all you have is three days away, then all you will
get is a full day plus two days travelling, setting up, taking down. One of the big pluses to a MH. Vans are brilliant for long stays, but MH's rule the roost for shorties and proper touring trips where all that is intended is a couple of nights in one place.
We have and use both a van and an MH, and which we use depends on what kind of holiday we are taking.0 -
We tend to avoid Friday and Saturday nights in the hope of not using valuable time for those that work and can only go at the weekend. On the same track I wonder if the last arrival time on Friday, could be extended so it would be feasible to set off after

Mr H., Hope you managed to look up the RCA info on Internet. I can only say that the rallies , although retirees, are a great bunch with like minded wants..Planning where you want to visit is made simple from the easy to follow rally book which comprises
about 80 rallies April to end September...You have the freedom to book any one you want and an go to new venue after the rally you are on finishes...lots of new friends to make and you can do whatever you want without pressure to join in but the advantages
to do so are worthwhile.0 -
Scottie I have just got back from a trip without WiFi so have only just read your post. As I think I mentioned I now try to use serviced pitches at every opportunity, due to a back and shoulder issue. The RCA site does not say whether it uses serviced pitch
