    It's good, especially with a smaller motorhome. A bit more room on Jersey but they are both worth visiting. I think you'll find all the supplies are the same, check the camp sites if needed, I'm sure many have stocks. You'll need a supply of parking tickets/timer cards which can be bought in advance on the ferry and in shops etc.There are good bus services too.

    I live in Guernsey so can help you anything you would like to know.  What type of gas do you want and what size.  You need to book your site in Guernsey first as you cannot book the boat without the licence they will give you.  I would recommend in Guernsey http://www.vaugratcampsite.com/  I live down the road from here.  5 mins walk to the beach where you can take a dog on in the summer and great swimming,  Site is also on the Bus route.  £1 fare to go anywhere on the island.  Walk to pub that does food.  Aladins Cave about 5 mins drive away sells Gas as does camping equipment.  Or Guernsey Gas is main gas suppliers plus lots of Garages http://www.gsygas.com/PDFs/gsygas-bottled-gas-location.pdf  Just ask if there is anything else you want to know.

    Hi Tomorrow

    I use Calor light weight 6 Kg cylinders and normally cary 2. Condor ferries say only 1 bottle of less than 5 Kg can be taken on the ferry, are they rigid about that? nearest match is a 3.7 Kg bottle which would not last long.  Can I get Calor 6 Kg light
     ansd Calor 3.7Kg refills on Guernsey and Jersey

    Hi Tomorrow

    Further to my earlier post, I have called gsygas to ask advice they say that Calor is no longer available in the Channel Islands. and that I would have to buy one of their bottles (cost of gas + £33 deposit). I still need to know how rigid Condor Ferries
    are re Bottle size and number of bottles.

    On Condor ferries web site the T&Cs state up to three gas cylinders if needed for camping as long as they are in an outer locker. Do you use EHU as this is readily available on sites?

    Thanks Brue,

    Knew I should have read their T & C's   But to my defence their Travel Info Tag gives a section on Caravans, Motorhomes and Campervans. Which clearly states 1 canister only no bigger than 5 Kg.  T & C's I'm sure take precedence. Thanks for your help 2 canisters
    will do me for the 20 days trip and will save me £6/ night for EHU on Guernsey.

    Sorry I was not ignoring you but I was away in the Van and got stuck because of the weather.  Our caravan has never come to Guernsey as it is not allowed so I have never had to bring a gas over on Condor but go by there web site.  Which ship are you booked to come over on ie are you leaving from Portsmouth or Poole?  Any thing else I can help you with let me know I am back for a few weeks now.  I can post you anything if you want bus timetable etc but are on the internet as well.  Have you decided on and booked a site yet?

    Condor appears to be 3 as below:-

    25 Petrol and Diesel Fuel, Liquefied Petroleum and Hydrocarbon Gas

    25.1. Passengers shall ensure the petrol and diesel tanks of their Vehicles are not so full as to create a spillage and that the ignition is switched off. Petrol and diesel cans, whether full or empty, shall not be carried except with the Company’s prior written authority.

    25.2. Special written authority for carriage must be obtained from the Company in respect of any Vehicle propelled by liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).

    25.3. Vehicles may carry a small number of cylinders of liquefied hydrocarbon gas for purposes such as camping provided that:

    25.3.1. All cylinders are declared to the ship’s Master;

    25.3.2. The maximum number of cylinders carried in any Vehicle shall be three, except in the case of small expendable cartridges hermetically sealed and packed in an outer container, when up to 12 may be carried, and;

    25.3.3. All cylinders shall be adequately secured in the Vehicle against the movement of the ship.

    25.4. Any cylinder found to be leaking, inadequately secured or inadequately connected to an appliance will not be accepted for shipment.

    25.5. No Vehicle may in any circumstances be re-fuelled including electrical charging or otherwise maintained, made good, repaired, serviced, mechanically improved or enhanced whilst being carried as Luggage without first notifying the Company who shall provide directions on how to proceed as it sees fit. The Company may at any time make arrangements for any immobile Vehicle to be removed from the vessel such reasonable costs of which shall be borne by the Person responsible for making the booking.
