Buxton site - fish and chips etc?
off to Buxton for the first time tomorrow (Thurs) for Easter. Planning what/where to eat, when my brother arrives late Friday. Does anyone know if there is a visiting fish and chip van, or pizza, etc on Friday evenings? Or any other evening for that matter?
thanks

Try phoning the site and asking the wardens

Don't know about the fish and chips but be aware that mobiles do not work very well, if at all, as the site is in a quarry on top of a hill. So if you are trying to check up with your brother on arrival time it will probably be necessary to walk out of the
site back up the access road onto the ridge. Lovely site though, enjoy your break.0 -
If not on site there is a fish and chip shop at Harpur Hill about 5 mins by car.

Buxton is a very nice town, some interesting shops, good antiques, lovely renovated Spa shopping centre. Might be worth looking what is on at the Opera House as well, they have some good events. Bakewell isn't too far away, and in my opinion is even nicer,
and of course there is Chatsworth and Haddon Hall to visit if you like big houses. (Haddon is the more interesting, a lot older, imho). Take some warm clothes, as Buxton is situated quite high up and can feel very cold! Not sure about visiting chip van, but
some varied eating places, take aways in Buxton itself.0
