Hello i would just like to know if anyone could recomend a site in northern england that is next to a canal. Idealy with a tow path close by to cycle or walk to a pub or village.

Hebden Bridge.  We stayed at a CL which was right next to the main site.  You could walk along the canal to Hebden Bridge, although there was a town nearby.

Haven't stayed on the CL at Stoke Bruerne but if you're a canal fan it's a lovely village with a canal museum, see the canal and river trust web site for details. We had family friends who lived there in the old days when they had to "leg" the boats through the tunnel. www.canalrivertrust.co.uk

Stoke Bruerne CL excellent. Dead basic, no EHU no showers or toilet blocks but right next door to a pub which does great food and right on the canal.

Thankyou both for the info. I think we will book up the CL for a night as the village does look really nice, thanks again.
