Cornwall
We have decided to take our family holiday during the summer holidays in Cornwall. I am currently surfing the net to find a reasonably priced site for 2 adults and a child. Was considering the newquay area. The only things that we need to make sure is on
the site are toilets and showers. We dont really want a huge site with entertainment. So far I cannot find a site for under 30 pounds a night which is just a shocking price to have to pay (thats my opinion anyway) So are there any recommendations that you
can make for a reasonably priced site. I would consider the other side of cornwall also

Look at Higher Pentreath Caravan and camping site. It's only going to be around £20 and is an idyllic situation overlooking one of the best beaches for families in West Cornwall, Praa Sands. If the weather is right, you would hardly need your car. Must
say we haven't stayed there as we use club sites, but it looks lovely.0 -
The cheaper sites are inland.
Try Fursdon Farm on the edge of Bodmin Moor and close to Liskeard - a grass pitch + electrics + toilets and showers + use of swimming pool - and priced at about £15 a night. Glowing reviews on UKCampsite.co.uk. It was a CS but expanded into a second field, but is still small and select - unlike Newquay.

Godrevy comes in at 10p under £30 and Damage Barton at £1 under although the latter is north Devon. How about

Sally, my advice would be to stay well away from Newquay during the peak season. It's over rated, noisy, suffers from drunks and stag parties. There are far nicer places in Cornwall. The CC site at Hayle (Godrevy Park) takes some beating and Rob2cath's suggestion is well worth considering. Another spot is Pentewan Sands where the site borders the beach (no dogs). Porthtowan Tourist Park is a good one as well. Look around and I'm sure you'll find something that suits.

I have just done a search for holiday rallys in Cornwall and there are 6, two of them at Newquay both in August at Monkey Tree. Hopefully >this Link< works.

We used the following Cornish CC sites and I recommend them (as the kids loved them):
Trewethett, Tintagel (kids went looking for crabs and netted a blue lobster on the beach next to the 'King Arthur's' castle)
Treamble Valley, Perranporth (has one of the best beaches in the world and 10-15mins from Nequay)
Looe (has a pool)
and our favourite which we go to once a year Godrevy, Hayle (great beach, sand dunes, close to St Ives)
Don't be too put off by Nequay, it's big enough to avoid the rowdy element of the place. Park at the south West end of the Fistral beach and you can explore the beach, walk across the beach and around the Headlands hotel which is all very nice.Tried various commercial sites around that area which were not too our taste of just too expensive.

Have you looked at porth beach ,north of newquay.We stay there alot(all be it out of season)Right opposite sandy beach and far enough out of the town to be quiet.Or Churchtown farm at gwithian just along from the club site,but on same side as the beach?dunes

Another site to look at is Globe Vale near Redruth. A little further south than Newquay, but the site is a particular favourite of ours. We have tended to pay around the £30 mark, but that is for a full serviced pitch, with awning and dog. You will pay less for a pitch just with Electric hook up, and less still for no awning and no dog. There is no pool or entertainment, but the site has a small bar which serves food. It is a very well looked after site, family owned and run. Paul and Louise are very welcoming. In the past, we've been to a variety of sites in Cornwall and this one beats them all in our opinion.
If you are interested you can book via the website, but it might be better and possibly more reliable to ring up Louise - she would then be able to talk through the options.

Give >this site< a ring. Small, quiet, clean and tidy with great views and a great deal to hand. I have stayed here a couple of times when visiting the Eden Project.

Thank you so much for our responses. I think to be honest we are going to have to look to pay around 30 pounds per night. I am awaiting call backs from a couple of sites (trewince farm and treamle valley cc)
Lots of ones that I have called are already booked up! I am considering trewethett farm however my husband believes that there is not alot in the close area to it it!

Sally, another possibility, just up the road from Perranporth, is Tollgate Farm. Never used it ourselves, but it comes highly recommended, always seems very popular during the season. It has a small takeaway kitchen and a pets corner ( not sure how old your
son/daughter is) and you can even walk down to Perranporth beach across the dunes or around the golf course ( might need to get the bus backup the hill though - it stops about 200 metres from the entrance).Worth a look!

The site at Trevalgan near St Ives (lovely coastal area) comes in at around £35 for two per night, I don't know how old your child is Sally but I think children under six are free. My six year old grandson had a good time there with his Mum and Dad!

no answer on the doubletrees farm so will continue to try them also!
It might not be open until Easter although I would have thought they would be taking bookings by now. It you are really stuck try one of the rallies. I note the Bedfordshire one at >Little Winnick< is only £15 per night per unit. Give the rally officier a ring.
I stayed on this site a couple of years ago, the toilet block wasn't up to much but it has since been refurbished. The grass rally field is flat and level and is next door to the main site and has 27 EHUs. Walking distance to Pentewan Sands beach, cycleway adjacent and bus stop right outside.

I would stay clear od Newqua if you have a child, I understand it is the blackpool of Cornwall, stag & Hen doos

End of June, it will be sunny. Decided on going back to our old haunts near Fowey, partly because I am going down to meet OH on sleeper! Not sure if taking van or MH yet, but if we take van, we might head across and have a look at Boscastle. We were on beach further south day it flooded, remember Chinooks going over. We might be a tad late, but need to show our support and visit it again! Can't wait to get down there, been a long two years starved of all things truly Cornish!

Boscastle has been rebuilt marvellously and is thriving. I was pleased to see there was no commercial exploitation of that terrible occasion. There is a display with a video in one shop (could have been the TIC) which is very sobering.
