The Club very backward in site bookings

You would think that when a site is open all year, that you would be able to book a pitch all year. But no, as I found out today when I tried to book such a site for next January 2017 In the intrest of serving the membership it seems the club is lacking in it's duty. I can see no reason why you cannot book a site that is open all year. If I wanted to take the chance, I could just turn up without booking, but that defeats the benefit of being a club member. Prehaps head office could respond

You can book it all year, usually until 3 rd January 2017 to cover new year. You just can't book any further into 2017. Some 2017 dates become available in August, when dates to mid March are released.

I think you have missed Crusader's point Steve. The Club could easily do it but as a means of limiting speculative bookings, introduce a none refundable deposit for bookings made for example more than 9 months in advance.

The post said "as I found out today when I tried to book" so it clearly came as a surprise. In any event, yes I agree it could be done, however it would mean deciding on pricing much earlier, or people booking not knowing the price.

This is an excellent example of where the C&CC booking system is superior - surely a rolling 12 month booking system would be better (except, I suppose some folk would have one less thing - frenzy day - to moan about!) Happy

.........when asked why the change over dates for bookings/prices couldnt be a tad later, say 10th Jan to accommodate those looking for a full week or so away at NY, the clubs response was....we always do it this way, most of
our guests have to go to work on the Monday!! (the 4th or 4th....depending on ....)

will this blinkered attitude ever change?.....

BB, if this is genuinely the Clubs business practice then there is no hope of a better future. How can they be so niave as to think this is the way good business should be done, let alone in a Members Club. Regards Roy

The cut off seems to short for some people booking into the new year and a bit longer would do no harm. One of those threads when the club might realistically look at their policies.

Strange business practices displayed by the CC.  It would be nice if they were like your favourite CL where you ask the owner if they can book you in for the same period next year,

A booking like that could end up involving our executors for some of us.

Or a site I know where they take pitch bookings to 2020

Blimey, and some on here would say we're daft booking a couple of months in advance!!

Wink. Use left and right arrows to navigate.

As one who never books more than a week or two in advance (and never for European trips), I'm quite happy with the current system.  It's nice just to go and if you can't get your first choice of site, there will be others.  It's all part of the adventure.

Why not e-mail the Club's site department direct? Its not always possible for Rowena to see every post made here. Alternatively you could press the report button on your original post to highlight it to Admin.
