Late arrivals at caravan sites

Why do people think it is reasonable to arrive at the sites at 7 pm at night and when it is dark to set up. Also do they not realise the wardens want to finish for the day and have their evening meal. If you cannot get to the site  at a reasonable time of
day then wait until the next day. Southport today units constantly arriving since 5pm now 7:30pm.

They understandably realise that it is acceptable to arrive at the times stipulated within the rules and site info. leaflets.

Are you serious or just trolling?  A lot of people including msyelf have to work for a living and maybe cannot get away until 6 or 7 O'Clock so have to arrive late.  Some may have got stuck in traffic or had a breakdown.

And the Wardens are paid to book people into the site up to the stated time which is usually about 8.  They do not take into account I want to have my breakfast at 8 in the morning or a a lie in and come round with their noisy tractors!

Not everyone has a POETS day ...... they might not finish till 5. If they don't arrive Fri evening they wouldn't be allowed on site till 12 on Sat and then expected to leave by 12 on Sun .... back at work Mon. Sounds a wonderful weekend break

Arrivals are permitted up to 8pm?

Is there no end to the complaints CC members will make about other site users?

I think if you are delayed and later than the stipulated time then it would be acceptable to be pointed to the LNA area, if the site doesn't have one, and it's dark then the nearest vacant pitch and asked just to do the very basics to make your van safe
    for the evening.

Latest arrival time is up to 8pm, we always tick the 6-8pm arrival time if we book. Only takes 10 mins to pitch up, kettle on. Wardens understand this, it is part of the job terms and conditions. We usually phone on day as well to confirm if we will arrive
after office closes. 8pm arrival time is too early for us in Summer months, long days are spent doing something off site as long as possible, not sat on site waiting to go to bed!

Our first trip out is in a few weeks.  We are at work and cannot leave early so it will be between half 7 and 8 if all goes well. If we are later than 8 we will expect to go onto the late night arrivals area and then onto the site the next morning as last arrivals is 8pm.

If the club/wardens didnt expect arrivals up to 8 there surely wouldnt be a tick box on the form for 6-8pm?

Since I joined the club (16 year+) it has been the custom and practice that warden's are avaiable till 8pm for arrivals. I think the clubs realises that people do work till 5pm and wants to accomodate such poor folk as much as possible to have a stay away,
very important at weekends. A very good idea from the club. In fact some club sites I visit the office actually stays open on a Friday evening rather than the 'ring the bell' for the duty warden.

As for setting up in the dark I really can't see any problems, I have done it many times - there are such things as torches although just leaving the blinds open with all the light on was usually enough for me.

I don't think this is about the wardens finishing at 5 or the difficulties people have setting up Corners Wink

Are they being noisy OP?  Have they disturbed you with their thoughtless adherence to the rules?

Do we have another fairly new member wanting to change the rules? Just what is the problem, Charlie?

I assume we 'all' agree that 8:00pm, as the rules suggest, should be the latest arrival don't we? If we do, what reasons are we attributing to this?

I think someone perhaps isn't familiar with CC last arrival times, and perhaps has nothing better to do this evening than watch other tourers arrive. They might want to amend the review left on Southport site, if the edit will allow.

Perhaps the OP hasn't visited many CC sites on a Friday. It is fairly standard especially away from the main holiday periods. Not sure why anyone should find it a problem.

Charlie hasn't said why he / she has found late afternoon / early evening arrivals on site to be a concern. He / she doesn't sound like a typical troller to me, so I assume there must have been a problem on site. More info needed please!

Wish I had never started this discussion but there is no need for nasty comments. I will not use the discussions again, as leaving comments opens you up to cyber bullying.  No I am not an OAP I was just concerned but not anymore.

Cyber bullying? Come on, Charlie, nobody's bullied you. There has been bullying on this forum at times but not in this thread.

Could it be that you regret starting the thread because you now realise people are acting within the rules? I'm sure you can now see how your OP might have appeared to some people to be a wind up.

Not wishing to comment on late arrivals as I am laid back about it.

I will however comment on the unecessary harsh treatment of a relatively new member of this forum by the usual suspects.  While many of us may disagree with his opinion, there is no need to try and belittle his contribution to the forum.

He is as entitled to his opinion as anybody else, even if they have possibly four purple stars. They are not any more special than any other member. Surprised

No wonder so many new posters don't stay here after joining when this is an example of the way they are welcomed by people who should know better.Frown

Charlie25 please don't be put off posting.   Other members above have pointed out (some rather more abruptly than necessary) that you are permitted to arrive at sites up to 8.00pm so no big deal.     If you look on the website when you book you will see
that the booking form asks what time you will arrive at site so that the wardens have an idea who is coming and when.   Some sites have Late Night Arrivals areas where you can stay with hook up if you arrive after that time.  The only thing to be careful of
is make sure you don't arrive late at a site which does not have this facility.  The website and handbook are very helpful on that.

Kennine, as the only poster in this thread with the 'possibly' 4 purple stars, I take exception to your insinuations. I have not been harsh with the OP. Have I said anything along the lines of "next time check the rules before you post"? No, I have not.
I merely asked a question and replied to a later post which suggested cyber bullying. You, of all people, should know better than to suggest some people might consider themselves special.

It was touch and go whether I hit the Quote of the Report button above your post.

Clearly we all now understand what the latest acceptable arrivals times are according to the rules but possibly not the reasoning behind this or what happens on sites without LNAs when you are unavoidably late.
