Hi all, we have just booked our first seasonal pitch as we thought we would give it a go, my question is has anyone been to hargill house on a seasonal pitch as i have some questions that no one can answer as the site is closed , we have not visited the
site before so we dont know if we can choose a pitch , keep an awning up ..etc.. The club say its up to the wardens and as i cant speak to them until the day i go i wouldnt mind some insider info Happy

...You will need to speak to the warden when the site opens as the warden this year may not be the same as last, and if the seasonal pitches are on grass as I would expect as hardstandings are at a premium, i very much dought that he will want grass piches wrecked with an awning left up when van not occupied, and in the past seasonal pitches were allocated as they were not to be on the best piches, which had to be available  for tourers

If you read the seasonal  t&cs those should help, they state that awnings must be taken down, nothing must be left out and the electrics out too when the members are not staying overnight. It's a lovely place to tour the Northern Yorkshire dales and the Tessdales. Just a hop over to Cumbria too. Enjoy

One thing i will add if you do get the option of pitches,  if there are any near the bottom of the site it will be "quieter"as the main A66 trunk road runs just past the site, but they are the furthest from the facilitiesSurprised

The pencil museum at Keswick is worth a visit and has the "cheapest"  parking for the townWink thats if its recovered from the floodsFrown

Must agree re pitches, lots of traffic noise at the top of the site.

We made the mistake of pitching at the top of the site,  luckily it was only for one night.

Errrr.....Keswick to Hargill House is some 65 miles???

But I would agree it will be noisy up near the road, the main reason why we would not stay there.

This site is being redeveloped and will not be open until I think August so cannot see they will have seasonal pitches this year.

Must have been me getting confused as I did look at both for April and ended up at Durham. I was unhappy that they chose to redevelop both sites at the same time limiting choice considerably.

Hi wildwood, yes white water is our close site for weekends and it seems like quite a revamp they are doing there , lets just hope its worth the wait as i belive a lot of the grass is going, i just hope its not going to look like a car park , durham is a
nice site , amd we like barnard castle too
