Burrs Country Park station totem

As the project lead, I reported to the Board on the progress on our ambition to construct a new station. I was pleased to advise the Board that we have successfully assembled a budget for the work with grateful thanks for grants from Bury Council,
Friends of Burrs and the Caravan Club. We are now in advanced discussions with a local construction company. We are also in the process of submitting a revised planning application which will take a couple of months. I hesitate to say anymore until all the
technical and legal elements are wrapped up before we can set any agreed timescales.

Wondered why the train didn't stop!!!

Seriously that is good news as it will open up many more options from very near the site.

Would be interested to see where they propose to erect the new station.  I've been on Bury Council's website and looked through planning applications but can't find what I'd hoped to see.

I live 5 mins walk from Burrs & they've been promising us a station there for the past 20 odd years. From what I understand, it's hoped to have the station/platform a liitle way towards Bury from Burrs .... they even built a timber 'boardwalk' into the fields
which we gathered was something to do with it. Undecided

I'll be in the town centre on Thursday so I might just pop in to the park. Happy

Why is it that I can receive another magazine this morning that informs me that the East Lancs Railway are expecting the new station at Burrs Country Park, to be fully open and operational by late summer 2016, yet not a word from the Caravan Club about it?

And for those who do not know, a number of new hard standings are being put down at the moment in the area the club site is extending into!
