To book or not to book that is the question
Thinking about heading up to Glencoe and surrounding area. Do I need to book or does anyone know if the sites have reasonable spaces without
booking. It would be nice to have the freedom to linger at a site or move on depending on how we feel. Thank you.

It depends on time of year. Bunree is popular and best to book but there are other private sites for example on the edge of Loch Leven at Glencoe which in my experience always has places. I never book ahead except in school/public holidays and have never been stuck. It gives me freedom and plans can certainly change with weather conditions.

As a motorcaravaner we have always booked just those nights on CC sites we wished to stay at. The rest of the tour we left open and took the risk moving around to find some stunning locations. It always worked out for us even adding or amending those booked
nights as we went along. We love touring like this.0 -
Depends on time of year. We went up to Scotland September/October 2014 for 7 weeks and the only site I booked in advance was our first stop which was Moffat. I only booked 3 nights but we stayed longer and had no problem doing so. It is a C&CC site.
From there we went up to Fort William, to Glen Nevis. No advance booking necessary there. On to Glenmore Camping in the Forest. I rang from Glen Nevis before we left and they had plenty of room. Came down to Stirling. Again, phoned ahead to check space.
Then onto Culzean Castle at Ayr, again just phoned ahead. Same for Troutbeck and Chester Fairoaks. So it can be done without prior booking. But I think it is wise just to phone ahead rather than just turn up. I think the days when you could turn up on
spec are gone. Although there are plenty of sites around, you don't have to restrict yourself to Club ones.0
