We are taking our camper to Jersey has anyone taken a caravan or camper over - just wondered as they state we can only take 5kg of gas and not sure how long it will last using the fridge and cooking most day. Going in June so wont need heating. Any advice
grattefully received.

Not  sure  what  type  of  Camper  you  have  CP,  so  are  you  using  a  site  with  EHU ? if  so  go  the  electric  route  for  as  much  as  possible.

How  to  keep  your  fridge  cool  on  the  ferry  is  fairly  simple

    1)  cool  it  right  down  at  home  on  electricity  if  at  all  possible,

    2)  then  load  it  with  as  much  frozen  stuff  as  you  will need

    3)  dont  open  the  fridge  door  til  you're  back  on  site  &  running  on  gas/electricity  (  You  cannot  normally  use  gas  on  the  ferry )

Then  enjoy  yourself  &  tell  us  all  about  your  holiday  when  you  get  back  !!

Do they sell gas bottles in jersey ? I would have thought so, if you  run out buy a new one, same as anywhere else I would think

Yes, everything is available on Jersey. We had a nice holiday there with our previous campervan. Our fridge was ok on the journey as we packed it well (as previously suggested.) It's a lovely island, we stayed at Beauvelande.

Pay cards are used for parking in many places on Jersey, check out Jersey tourism for advice. We found driving around easy and the bus services are good too.

I went in 2004 with the c&cc to beauviland if you get in touch with them they will give you all the info you require you do relies that you can not drive a camper van around island just one trip from ferry and back to ferry

You can drive a campervan round the island (we stayed with the C & CC too.) Caravans have to go straight to the sites but M/Hs can be used as transport anywhere on the island. there is a size limit for all vans but most can be accommodated.

Yes, it has changed, but I noticed quite a few with larger vans hired cars from the camp site. The roads can be narrow.Smile

Why would you be driving around with a caravan unless going to a site or ferry ?
