The island isn't very big, so it's not very too far anywhere.

The club site at Southland isn't far from the beaches at Shanklin and Sandown, There is also a pub close to the site.

Hopefully someone who has stayed there recently will be able to help further.

Keep your eye open for the deals,Red Funnel & White Funnel have them. Without the deals it can be expensive, the two sites that are mentioned are good.

Wink ,, Just had ten days on the Island  over Xmas & New Year ,using the 'Red Funnel' offer. This time went to the East Cowes site 'Waverly'.Previously have used 'Appledurcombe' .Both VERY good sites & locations. There are two other within the Red Ferry mandate too.GOOD prices ,including return crossings. Some VERY good eateries around the Island ( see my entries on 'Trip Advisor ) .Be sure to collect the brochure " Island Visitor"Enjoy.

We stayed at the Orchards Site a few years ago and it was very good. The site has a lovely outdoor pool and the facilities block was first class also the site had a good shop and a take-away and the views across the countryside from our pitch were great.
We got the Whytelink ferry from Portsmouth to Fishbourne and the site arranged everything for us. The island is great and there is certainly plenty to do

White cliff bay camping site has access to a nice beach. It's in Bembridge. However, it is a large site, though the touring part is seperate from the Mobiles.  Both the Haven sites have nice beaches. Again large sites. There is a CL very close to the Thorness
    bay site.
