I appear to have missed a news item in the magazine about this lovely little site not having its lease renewed after this season? No longer have the magazine, and cannot find anything about this in online news items.

A lovely little basic site, in a great location, and offering stays at a great price. Very sad to see this Club Site may not be available in the future. Two close options are both run in partnership with Morris Leisure, and the prices are not what we would
pay.

No doubt a few other members will be sad to see this pretty, quiet little site go?

Yes it will be sad to lose this site, I think this has come up in discussions before. We're hoping to visit this year. There is a CL near Much Wenlock itself which looks quite nice.

It is a very nice site, laid out along the old disused railway track, however, I would not go back, last time I was woke by my car alarm screaming it's head off! Next morning after I had gone around the back of the caravan, as I was in my jim jams to switch the alarm off, I was woke to a knocking on the door and being told the police wanted my details etc!

Someone had parked in the layby at the enterance, walked down between the trees and tried to steal my car!  The guy from the caravan next to me saw the man running up the hill while my cars alarm was going!  Luckily for me he had disappeared before I had gone out to shut the alarm up!

ok! No damage done, apart from a caravan site being woken up, but the down side for me was I tour on my own with my dog (widow) what might of happened if I had gone out to my car quicker and the guy was still there??

Police say that that area is well known for people trying and also stealing cars!

    food for thought!

We visited the site for the first time last year, it's a lovely little site and the wardens were great. I also read somewhere it was too close (can't remember where) which is a shame. I will be sad to see it close as we had hoped to visit again,  will have
    to be quick now.

Yes, we discovered it last year, on a short tour that also took in Bromyard Downs. We signed a petition at Bromyard Downs regarding keeping that site open as well! Not a good sign for the future at all.

Sorry about your experience Vivien. Lots of sites are vulnerable, due to locations out in quiet backwaters. We know friends who have had odd items go missing at Marazion down the years, site actually has a footpath right through it, and of course bike thefts
are rife at some sites like Ferry Meadows and Clumber.

I wonder what will happen to the site? The CC don't really need to loose any more pitches or sites, there are not enough now! Undecided

I also used it last year and every one is saying it will be a shame to lose it. It is in a good scenic walking area and is quiet and peaceful. Like Brue says there is a good CL next door which was full all the time we were there so I doubt you could just
    turn up.

Being a none facility site, there is very little infrastructure there I suppose. Even the EHU bollards could go into storage as spares I guess. Such a shame as it is a lovely little site, with lots and lots of bird life, and very close to some lovely places to visit such as Much Wenlock, Church Stretton, not far from Ludlow. If you want a shock, check out the prices at Ludlow Touring Park, AS site. For us and two dogs, this time of year, looking at £27/28 per night! Cheaper to do a deal on a cottage!

We have used a couple of CLs in area as well, although one has now closed. Still a few nice ones around though.

Checking out the prices, that's just what I've been doing after we move on from Much Wenlock, I can't justify £27/28 a night for overnight stops on other CC sites, so have been looking at CLs as we travel further north.

We used one at Leebotwood a good few years ago. Good for Summer as all grass, and not too far into Shrewsbury. Might not be open at moment though. We used Hucks Barn just outside Ludlow as well. Views and location are stunning, great for dogs, but a tad
pricey for no facilities. Worth it for the location straight up into Mortimer Forest, one of those CLs that would be lovely just to chill out on all day!Happy

Seems a waste of time to change the name (from Presthope) then. It is in a good location and very cheap.

I was the one who mentioned that it was going to close. We had it from the Relief Warden, I think, when we were there last autumn. I cannot find my OP concerning it, but I think that the owner wants the site for his own personal use and isn't going to develop
it into a commercial site. It will be a great loss, as far as we are concerned.

Couldn't agree more. We 've stayed at least once a year since Adam was a lad. Such memories.Don't cry

We've also used a CL at Leebotwood. Probably the same one as TTDA if it's the one with a youngish couple with a two children. Nice place. The area is fantastic for walking. Why are we losing good sites? (Rhetorical question).

I think we'll have used that same CL too,  Castle Farm or something like that, all grass behind the farmhouse.

The nearest one is Firs Cottage and I think there is another nearer to Much Wenlock called Coates Farm.

As has been said before the Club cannot afford to lose any more sites, it should be using its cash surplus to buy up the leases of the remaining leased sites. We expect our choice to be widening, not narrowing. And no more associates please, unless they stick to the club's rules.

Have stayed at Much Wenlock many times, lovely place, Baltic Wharf all over again !  Very depressed now.

There's also a good CS, if you're a member of C&CC, near Church Stretton....Botvyle Fm, All Stretton. No 137 15 in the Big Book.

Watch out at Coates Farm, we have used this in the past and there was at best 7 vans on site and at worst 10 including the owners who store their vans there then turn up and set up in the storage area for the weekend ! Luckily it is a big field!

Thanks for the information. I've just looked at the reviews and the owner has made helpful comments about the site so it's obviously more of a "relaxed" site, at least the owners have their own bit for extra vans?

unfortunatly we are not members of the C&CC, may have to look at joining, to give us a bit more choice.
