hello all, I've just started to book our summer holidays, partly at the shawsmead site in Wales but there is a rider on the booking page outlining the fact that there is no onsite dog walk.
Has anyone visited this site and can tell me if there are any dog walks close to the site? Thanks, Mick Rumble.

When we stayed there we found it very limited for dog walking, we found a route which was mostly on the local lanes with a short footpath part of the way. Although the site was very pleasant the lack of footpaths meant we wont visit again, even without the
dogs we would have enjoyed finding some off road walks.

Hi Mick,  It seems back to front to me to choose a caravan site and then start looking for local walks. Isn't it better to decide where you want to go walking and then pick a caravan site nearby?

Agree with Brue, it's very limited for dog walking on the site itself. Out of the site you can turn right and walk along the lane which is quiet first thing and in the evening.Lots of scope down on the coast obviously, and I seem to remember there was a NT place close by.

You'll be OK for that first and last stroll of the day, but look further afield for anything more adventurous. Happy

Llanerchaeron is the NT place, it's a nice big estate for a day out. One of our dogs likes a good off lead run and we found Shawsmead frustrating. I think we just did a circular road walk each day, turn right out of the site, then left by the houses and
    round in a shortish circle.

Unfortunately, we don't have the facility to merge threads so, as per our Community Manager's request that all aspects of caravanning with dogs be posted
    here,
I'll close this thread but, if you want to request more information, please use the thread highlighted.

    Many Thanks.
