Sadly Essex lacks CC sites, so if you want to 'weekend' locally it will need to be CL's in Essex, there are a few commerical sites on the coast, haven't used those, or CL's in Essex as we are able to get a bit further.  Nice sites in Suffolk again CL or
commerical.  What sort of ages are your boys?  What do they like doing?  We 'oldies' don't really require action but R&R so probably don't have experience you need.  What about rallies? again not managed to join in as yet but the Essex groups seems to have
a lot going on.  Worth a thought.

I'm sure you'll love the sites you've booked so far, we love Ferry Meadows as walks on the doorstep, along with trains nextdoor and city nearby catch the train or bus to and traffic freeway walk and cycle way.  Sandringham is lovely for walks into the estate
otherwise busy roads before you can get to villages etc.  Haven't done Brighton, but the reviews look good.

With a bit of luck the weather will be better very soon and you can really start your adventures.  It's a great hobby. Welcome to CT you'll find plenty of help and advice on here if you ask

Battle will be a good one for you, has a good play area for kids and nice walks, and site is not far from seaside resorts.

I’d have a look at what your local centre is up to. They should have rallies much closer to home and you may find that your boys enjoy it.

If you don't mind using your vans facilties Stamford is a nice site. Lots of safe cycling and a good play area in the woods.

If your kids like animals longleat site is great, you can get a discount on the animal park with the caravan club if you book before you go and can walk into the house side and all the attraction on that side from the caravan park. We stayed a week and got
a five day pass and just nipped in and out as the mood took us.

Seacroft in Cromer is a good one. Within walking distance to the beach. It has a clubhouse and swimming pool onsite. Only downside is it is quite expensive to stay here.

It really depends how far you want to travel. Is it just for a weekend, or for a prolonged holiday. Is Clumber Park too far away? Good for walking and for the children getting out on their bikes.

Thanks again for all your help. Don't mind travelling as there aren't any official CC sites in Essex

Just seen this thread after posting on a thread about New Site Locations. As mentioned in my post there is unfortunately no CC site in Essex. Not a great advert for this club of ours is it? I don't know what you like doing or what will keep your two boys
amused. Can only suggest that if you want to stick to CC main sites that the one at Kessingland, Lowestoft is near the beach. Also Abbey Wood in London should be accessible for you. It's a big site with good train access to the city or Greenwich but hope you
have deep pockets. Depending where you are in Essex then Cambridge might be doable for a weekend or the site in the Norfolk Broads. Try looking under the Certificated Location (CL) sites in Essex. We've stopped on a few but not with youngsters so reluctant
to recommend any. If you don't mind using your own facilities this might be the answer especially for short breaks.

We like the C&CC site at Polstead, in Suffolk but easy access from Colchester. Lovely walk through the woods into the village. Cresta House at Goldhanger is a nice CL, with walks along the Blackwater and two pubs very nearby.
