We have just purchased the AA site book ( yes I know we are slow ) but some of the good deals in this book are an eye opener. We are CC through & through, but will certainly giving a few of the listed small commercial sites a try.

You can motorvan for free at the next estate to Altnahara if fishing. Enlightening, you buy your permit in a hut on the side of the road, mark the book which loch you go to and smetime in the day the stalker meets up with you. Wont pay £14 for non facilities
    at Altnahara again.

Just keep it all simple, charge per head per night, say £15.0

    super pitch £17.0

Don't give them ideas!! If it were that sort of price then many more pitches would be available all year round!!

Write your comments here...Disagree -------- Keeping  it simple is :-  £5 pitch fee and £5  per person per night midweek Monday to Thursday nights.  -- with £10 pitch fee and £10 per person at weekends.

I know those of us who go away for weeks on end will have to pay both those rates but in the long run it will balance it'self out and the CC will be making income from otherwise unused pitches.

err excuse me ... thought this club was for all members ... as someone who has only 30 days  a year holiday i spend many a weekend out in the 'van - why should i have to pay more than other members? Yet again proof that self interests seem to litter this

Still the best way, charge per person, only fair way of doing it. All this rubbish about pitch fee's ect would be history, the more on the pitch the more they pay. everbody's. winner...dogs free

I cannot agree on this. The real cost is providing the pitch and extra persons add very little.  Charging for extra persons at the current rates means they are paying over the odds.

Write your comments here...when we go camping, it is always per head no mention of a pitch fee, keep it simple, it is to complicated as it is, and also it the same price whenever you go, but some do add extra on bank holidays, supply and demand,

David, I think the website carries a disclaimer along the lines of-'the price stated is the minimum you can expect to pay' with the inference it may not be the maximumSad

is this a club site? I'm away over the BH (on a club site) and the increased prices are shown over this period?

Dunno, but it's worth a try.  Print off your booking and take it with you.  I'd try it on.

I'd try another site first. Couldn't do with the hassle should they try to charge me the increased price on arrival.

David, we keep well clear of CC sites during the BH's because of the ridiculous charges, using CLs instead. This one we're on a CL near Manningtree & for the Spring BH at a couple, one at Grantham and the other near Lincoln.

    Are you away yourself?

We're off tomorrow for the May Day weekend, but we're only just 20 minutes up the road a Conkers C&CC site, with a group of friends.  Our youngest daughter still has to go to school, so we'll be backwards and forwards!

    Have a good time!

nice of all of you to discriminate against me ,firstly I am a solo traveller so I only pay 1 pitch fee plus 1 adult fee secondly I not have an awning so not use electric to heat it up and thirdly most of the time I can only go away on a Sat night as I work
so midweek lower pricing is no good to me ,that's why I joined the club as some places charge per car full ie 2 adults 2 children car and carvan .and as I only have a tiny camper not need a super pitch so where does your pricing help me ??

And that, gc, is an excellent example of how the club pricing structure wins out against many other organisations. I can see nothing to be gained by going down the routes suggested for changing it, but a lot to be lost.

Groovy cleaner.I doubt if you will get a pitch and single occupancy on any CC site next week for £8 all in. You will get an Europitch at Haven for under £8. OK its off season.

Write your comments here...I wasn't saying I wanted to pay £8 all in was merely stating fixed prcie across the board doesn't work for solo travellers

Whilst just booking St Davids- my 2016 printed price list shows  on 9/5 Pitch £6-30,Adults £5-60.Total for 2 £17-50.  The booking confirmation shows Pitch £6-80,Adults £6-00.Total for 2 £18-80. How does that happen.Another sneaky rise. Perhaps we all need
to check your booking carefully. Waiting a reply from HO

Perhaps they are relying on people not having downloaded the latest prices.

That seems most strange, the prices that you've been charged do not appear on the price list I was sent by HO. Just looked at the on-line prices and the peak prices is aso higher than that on the printed list. Come on HO where did this sneaky price increase
come from, and has it also been applied to other sites?

I do not think there is any discrimination against you. Some commercial decisions have to be made when pricing and this will affect some more than others but that is life.

On most club sites you pay the same pitch fee and one person charge. We pay for a second person at several times the cost to the club so on the majority of sites you are doing better than us but that is balanced out on far less sites where the fixed fee applies.

The midweek discount is an effort to fill sites when there are spaces. It works for some but not others but it is just a commercial need. If you can use it good but if not then it is just the way it is.

If you do not want a super pitch you do not take one and those who heat the awning are frankly a wasteful minority who are taking advantage of the fixed pricing.

Fisherman, I've just been in conversation with Carole from HO, on the chat line about this and she is going to get someone at HO to come back with a response. Looking in the 2015/16 site  directory, it would appear that they've use the 2015 prices instead
    of updating them.

Fisherman, I've had a response from HO regarding the price differences you highlighted. :-

I have been in touch with our Marketing department who are responsible for our sites’ prices. They have advised that unfortunately the price list on our website, and the one that you have been sent, were still listing 2015 prices for St David’s Lleithyr
Meadow. This has been corrected now, although our website is currently down for unplanned maintenance. I have asked them to ensure that the other sites listed on the document are correct with 2016 prices to save any further confusion. I would like to take
this opportunity to thank you for bringing this error to our attention. Please accept my sincere apologies for the inconvenience this may have caused.

If you have any further queries, please do let us know.

    Kind regards
