Suggested location for a new site
We recently travel between the ferry ports and West Wales and find there is a lack of good sites along the M4 without travelling several miles off route. Tredegar Park is the only real option. I wonder if the Club would look at the possibility of another site near Avebury / Malmesbury / Hungerford? This is a part of the country we would love to explore on our travels and I am sure there are many members who feel the same..

Bit off topic but the C&CC have a Forestry Site at Marlborough - Postern Hill, and there are a couple of CLs near Malmesbury, if you do want to explore that area.
There has been a long running post conerning places where CT members have suggested site, but I can't find it. Perhaps one of the mods could asist.

... I found details of the other Club's site at Postern Hill Forestry. I have to say that as we are dog owners and there has been such publicity about a new mystery disease affecting dogs in forestry and woodland areas in the late summer and autumn I
have avoided it for that reason.0 -
We've stopped there a couple of times in the past, and also walked our dog in there in October this year, when staying on a CL the other side of Marlborough, and he's not suffered in any way.

The pressure on sites is so high that new sites almost anywhere would help. From where we are the Loch Lomond area would be useful. The C&CC have two plus a Camping in the Forrest all doing well so the need is there.
Our daughter lives near Newport so we have used Tredegar Park. There are not even commercial sites in the area so not sure the demand is there, if I am wrong then it is an opportunity though.

I think you are right Wildwood. There is so much demand a few new sites would be very welcome wherever they are situated.

A Loch Lomond or Trossachs site (other than the ones at Killin) would be brilliant. Our nearest site is Strathclyde Park and we've never quite fancied it due to it's proximity to busy roads. The CC&C have four sites within half an hour of us. Unfortunately
they all close in the winter and can be extremely expensive when they are open.0 -
I see that Morris Leisure have opened a new site at Llanberis in North Wales. I wonder if this site will be affiliated to the Club as are their other sites at Riverside, Bettws and Stanmore Park?

Hi all
We like the Northumberland area, and would love a club site in Seahouses, there are a couple of five van sites, but a proper club site would be great . Do other members agree or am I the only person who likes Seahouses.

I agree, love Seahouses, especailly the fish and chips resturants. It used to be our favourite day out. Good coast line and lots to do north and south.

From the volume of Caravans & MH travelling from North West Wales towards Bala last Saturday a site on the Llyn Peninsular would be popular. The club would have to buy an existing site as planning would be a problem in that part of Wales for a greenfield
site.0 -
Berwick site is only half hour from Seahouses, or you can do a lovely scenic drive. Plenty of good CLs and private sites as well in between. Hadrians Wall area of Northumberland has no Club Site. We use CLs or Hexham Racecourse. Hexham, along with other
Racecourse sites used to be affiliated to Club a long time ago, there are still a few racecourse sites, but not as many.0 -

Even closer would be Plough Lane, Chippenham or Burton Hill at Malmesbury.
Or for a CL, Thatado farm just north of Royal Wootton Bassett.

Most definitely at Argartan nr Arrocher. On Loch Long, a few minutes drive to Loch Lomond in one direction and 20 mins drive to Inverary in the other. Great area for walking, --- the Arrocher Alps are within easy reach..
In fact the CC had a great site there for years but there is now an Hotel where once there were happy caravanners. Still plenty of room for another campsite though.

Remember it well.
Along with House of the Binns near Linlithgow and Gosford Gardens they were big losses to the Scottish network.

There was also both a C&CC site, which is now closed too, and Forest site which may be open still but I'm not sure. Any ideas, K? The only down side of the CC's site was the dreaded wee beasties, millions of them, and the amount of ticks in the forest which
the dog picked up.0 -

The midges are no worse than those on Skye. Ticks are found everywhere there are sheep or deer.

Thanks, K.

Not saying a lot then!!
Ticks are found everywhere there are sheep or deer.
Of course I appreciate that K, but the last time we were there I removed 50 of them off our Springer in just one day!! Never had that many on a dog before or since!!

perhaps the club should look to open another site in or near london as it is roumored that the crystal palace site is to be lost to housing in the near future,we have looked the local commercial estate agents and found 2or 3 sites for sale but unfortunatly
they appear to be in the yorkshire dales and northumberland .but it shows that there are sites for sale around the uk0 -
