2016 Site Fees and Site Renovations
Whoa has anyone else noticed the steep increase in site fees!!! Also how come there seems to be no renovations of any sites in Scotland. On many sites we visit toilet blocks badly in need of an overhaul.

Don't know which sites in Scotland you are referring to Cairngorn as all the Club sites we have used in recent years have excellent facilities (Apart from Altnaharra and Clachan which don't have any and it is reflected in the price ). This thread will probably
be closed as the price increase has already been well discussed on another thread . Kellysmum0 -
I have always found the facilities to be perfectly acceptable but nothing to get carried away with

How come this is showing in the Caravan & Motorhome Chat section and then come up in this section?

It's another of the excentricities of CT. The post shoulld really be in the Fun section as a "Guess where this should be" post.

I admit that I never look at the prices when booking as that is, to me, not a factor in site choice. No idea how they have changed for 2016.
As for toilet blocks I have been satisfie with all that I have encountered and we visit around 17 different sites most years

What worries me about increases in site fees are that they are occuring whilst it appears wardens annual budgets for sites, including contracted hours are being reduced! Renovations are capital projects and will be budgeted seperately from the day to day
running of sites. Cuts in budgets and hours will only untimately lead to a reduced standard of site and level of service - whilst we are paying more. The CC needs to be careful IMO as if syandards fall as prices continue to increasd so members may start to look
elsewhere. This is of course in addition to the increase in annual membership.0 -

Unfortunately I believe there are a number of members who would still visit even if prices were doubled. "nothing better than the Club and its wardens"

However if they was the only ones that were using the CC sites the club would not function as a viable concern.

Which site and how many in your party? I assume that it wasn't a serviced pitch.
Why is that, Alan.....is it too cheap?
the site is Start Bay, from the post above....
Just curious. I tried to look at some site prices yesterday but the system would not work. I did look at a booking of mine for Christmas period for me and OH. (14th to 29th Dec.) the first week was under £20. The second £31.50. I would guess that the second
week is a 20% increase over the last 5 years. However my memory is not what it was.0 -
Just booked start bay for 7 nights at Whitt £245.
i booked it but looking to stop else where.
If you don't want to stay there, why book it and possibly prevent someone who does? Have I misread your post?

It's really quite simple, you choose a location/locations in the country for your holiday. You then choose a caravan site in each of those locations. Your choices are varied, some like being in cities, some like being in the countryside and there are many campsites to choose from, the price will be a consideration of course but will not be the "be all and end all".
After comparing the various sites run by different companies the prudent caravanner will choose wisely and will reject any sites which do not represent good value for money.
Sticking ridgidly to only one campsite supplier is IMO counter productive.

Spot on K !
I can never understand why those who are, apparently, so dissatisfied with what CC sites provide continue to use them when there are so many alternatives out there more suited to what they're looking for.
Very blinkered thinking, isn't it?

On another forum a poster has stated that today there are only 4 units on the Southport site. May I suggest that has something to do with an unrealistic pricing model?
Whilst I commend the decison to make Southport an all-year-round site, the near enough £20 cost of a midweek very-off-season night doesn't exactly spur you into action.
We had thought of a grabbing a couple of post-christmas nights this week, then I saw a cost of £40 and thought better of it.
Maybe an extension of the Freedom £14pn pricing offer to cover all bar the busiest sites during the first quarter would be an idea? After all, the relatively marginal cost of having a unit on site as opposed to an empty pitch would be more than covered
by the extra revenue generated.0 -
Jake, it makes obvious sense to me but I'm sure not every one will agree

the weekend. Therefore, unless you had the higher price at the weekend it would not be economic, as every van could be using £4 to £5 of electricity at this time of year.0 -
£19.60 a night does seem expensive, we only paid £21.70 a night in June 2014. Perhaps if the site has not been open at this time of year before there will be an opportunity to reassess the fees for this time of year and add it to the list for a mid week discount? Mind you it could be that people just don't want to go away at this time of years given the recent weather and the affects of the weather not far from Southport? We paid £16.55 a night at Longleat in mid December and there were only a dozen units on site at the most midweek which surprised us given the excellent Light Show only a short walk from the site.

Half price mon to fri off grid midweek ....fri sat sun with electric double the price, how's that for an idea, the club would be foolish not to take up this brilliant concept, you could even treble this for honeypot sites,

but, surely, the club gets this back in the summer when it 'charges' far more than customers use.....you cant really be using the 'electric' argument to suggest keeping members off site in case they 'use too much electric'?i thought this was the policy of the club....inclusive electric?or is it, inclusive electric provided you dont use too much at the wrong time of year?its a bit like having the 'wrong type of snow' on the tracks.it just goes to show how rigid the CC model is if you cant attract a few more customers in case they upset the balance...flexible, bah humbug! The poster was suggesting a site fee of £14 for 3 months at a time of year when people will be burning the maximum amount of electricity, hardly sustainable I would think. OK it might be winter, when prices are normally lower but other costs still need to
be met, wardens paid, heating in the block, heating of shower water, bins emptied etc. The CC isn't a charitable organisation, it's in business to make money which it can reinvest in new sites.0
