I have read some good reviews on this site and looking at going end of January for 2 nights to try out our new to us caravan. Just undecided whether to go for the standard pitch or serviced pitch. I am thinking that i will be spoilt with a serviced pitch,
I just need hardstanding in this weather and EHU really. There is 1/3 of their site grass and i think the weather is a bit rubbish for that. Any info appreciated about the site. I have read reviews but not much said about the grassed area in bad weather or
if they put you on hard standing anyway,

    Fear not in winter the grass pitches will not be in use. We have stayed at this site twice now and both times had a lovely big awning pitch (we don't use serviced ones, even when we had a caravan) we liked the site its well situated for the town and surrounding
    areas. Now that the greeery has grown it is very pleasant. I'm sure you will have a good time getting to know your van.

    Its one of our favourite sites which we use quite a lot - you go through the industrial estate but dont worry once you come out the other side into the country park its lovely. Plenty of walks directly off site.
     Most of the site is hardstanding and last time we went in November all the grass pitches had already been taken out which is what usually happens in the winter.  The service pitches are in the middle row near to the toilet block which is in the centre of the site. 

    All of the hardstandings are pretty level and well draining.  We have been on a serviced pitch but usually prefer the non serviced so we can go on the outside edge.

    I echo the above comments.

    We went in June and ended up staying for a week.

    Good walks from site and easy to get to Chesterfield and beyond.....

    We have just come back from poolsbrook - and the grass pitches had no pegs in them, we know they are grass pitches as we have stayd on those ones in the summer - When we left monday morning site was nearly empty

    Was at Poolsbrook in November. S.P. for us as we use our own shower.However I did venture into the sites own shower and toilet on a couple of occasions and found it i.mmaculate. The locallity is great for touring Chesterfield, Barrow Hill (steam trains)
    Chatsworth and Eyam.  Shop on site sells very little but supermarket is ten minuets walk All pitches are spacious, so enjoy your stay.

    We used this site not long after it opened and it was ok except for the approach which was through a scruffy industrial estate.At first i though we had taken a wrong turning but the site was ok if just a bit sparse as all the tree,s and shrubs had just been planted.

    We stayed at Poolsbrook not long after it opened too, we are booked to go back for a few nights this spring,  will be interesting to see how the site has matured.

    Much improved H&T not bare like it was, we like staying there.

    Not a CC fan after trouble with unit size at two sites, but we liked Poolsbrook, nice facilities and at the time, a nice couple running it.

    one of our favoutite sites nice and clean also next to the trans pennine trail great for mountain bikes

    We regularly stay here on a seasonal pitch over the winter months & on previous visits have always recieved a warm welcome. This time on our arivel in September the assistant wardens said the main wardens, (who were on days off), had left instructions that
    we be offered a choice of 4 pitches, odd as the site was less than half full, but one was acceptable. The site is conveniant for the Trans Pennine Trail, the Chesterfield Canal, Bolsover Castle, & Renishaw Hall. Staveley town has local shops & a Morrisons,
    plus chinese, indian, & fish & chip shop. The site's well mantained, but after a days heavy rain our pitch, along with quite a few others flooded. We like Poolsbook, but found the attitude of the new main wardens to be quite abrupt, & generaly made us feel
    second class members, the assisant couple were pleasant & friendly, as are the new winter relief wardens.
