Braemar Site
We are planning to go to the Braemar Site for Easter holidays. I wondered if anyone could advise us on a good pitch to book, ideally with a view. Also any comments on how long it will take to travel up from South Manchester? Many thanks.

There are no poor pitches on the Braemar site. They all have good views. Red squirrels in abundance. Deer on the hill across the road and an easy stroll into the village.
Driving time towing from South Manchester would be around six hours.
Enjoy your visit

Haven't been for a few years. In light traffic, it took us 8 hours plus stops in our motorhome from the Wirral so allow a simiar time as motorhomers tend to drive at similar speeds to caravanners and the distance is about the same. Bottle neck is between
Glasgow and Edinburgh with peak traffic times adding over an hour to journey times. Snarls up very quickly if there is an 'incident'.My son takes his trailer to South Glasgow once or twice a month and reckons it's a good 4 hour+ run to SG during a working day without a stop.
Suggest you try and plan your route to avoid peak times in Manchester and the central belt in Scotland.
Can't advise on pitches though as all we want is hard standing. There is a bit of traffic noise from the main road during the day. Never bothered us but you might prefer to avoid the road side and the tent area.
First time we went was an April and we had to climb out of Braemar with several inches of snow on the A93 south. Almost didn't make it. Gorgeous on our other trips including an Easter - but cold.

I agree with Kennine in that there are no bad pitches and views are good from all we have tried. Depends a bit on exactly where you are starting from, but I would say his six hours would be a minimum travelling time though as road there might be described
as A93 but it is very slow going.Route via Blairgowrie is scenic but can be very slow, by Stonehaven further, but should be quicker, but less scenic. Depends on your priorities and timing.

Braemar was always our favourite site when it was run by the Caravan Club. Now that its affiliated its even better. You can download a site plan if you visit Braemar Caravan Park website and yes you can definitely request a specific pitch and if its available
the very frendly, helpful wardens will reserve it for you. Enjoy your visit.0
