If anyone is staying at Cherry Hinton this year they may like to know that the local news has just announced the opening of a new traffic free cycleway between Cherry Hinton and Canbridge city center.

Would be interested to know how far it is, does it also make a traffic free walk into the city?

A bit far to walk I think, must be close to 3 miles, I have only ever done it by bus.

£180,000 upgrade to cycle way from Cherry Hinton to Cambridge City Centre opened last Friday

It is hoped a newly improved cycle path will attract more people to commute on two wheels after the council spent £180,000 on a renovation project.

The Tins cycle route, which connects Cherry Hinton with Mill Road and the city centre, was reopened on Friday after extensive work was undertaken to improve it.

Cambridgeshire County Council did the work in the hopes it would encourage more people to use cycling as a means of commuting to work, taking pressure off the already congested Cherry Hinton Road.

Noel Kavanagh, Cambridgeshire County Council's cycling champion, said the cycle path was now a viable alternative for commuters in the area.
