@Rowena - I've already posted these pics in the "What are you all up to" thread - but to kick-start your new topic, I'll post them again. The roof of the van hadn't been cleaned for over a year because of my mobility problems but I managed to persuade grandson - with a contribution to his 'holiday fund' to do it for me. Here are the before and after shots. The third one is after I had cleaned the sides and polished the van.
For the first time, I / he used Jennychem caravan cleaner. I'd read a lot about it and thought that perhaps it was a lot of hype - but I have to say that it really shifted the grime on the roof really well. For the rest of the van, I always only use "Stardrops" detergent because it doesn't contain any salt and therefore doesn't remove the polish. I then polish again with Autoglym Resin polish.

As we tour all year round I clean our caravan after every trip so don't really have a "before"! To ensure that cleaning is relatively less arduous I use Fenwick's Caravan Cleaner, rinse off with a gentle spray, and then apply Femwick's Bobby Dazzler.

I loosened the cover last weekend to start a few jobs and everything looked clean, white and shiny. At the end of the season it always gets a clean and polish before going away. A jet wash NEVER goes anywhere near the caravan or car. I think they should only be used on your patios.
Battery checked, water system filled up to check for frost damage and sterilising solution in the system. The last bits in cupboards are boxes so the van can be emptied in a few when it goes off for water ingress warranty test.
I've re-set the motor mover bodies as one had slipped slightly and had planned to get underneath today for cleaning, greasing, check tow hitch etc and make sure everything on gas is working, but the weather has turned.
The cover is now strapped down tight ready for the 50mph winds again. A good tip for getting the straps underneath the van from one side to the other is to wrap them around a plastic hand brush and you can throw this across the floor under the van.
Photos of when the cover came off last year and the van seems to look this clean this year. It will get a rinse down and Bobby Dazzler prior to may departure to NL along with inside clean, window rubbers and stays treated etc.

I bought some Wet and Forget for the roof of the van and flags in the garden. I thought that it was quite good as the van roof is not as bad after the winter break as it usually is, but Which Magazine had just done a survey of it and don't recommend it, but recommend using Monty's Miracle Outdoor Cleaner or Jennychem instead.

I keep my motorhome exterior pretty much clean most of the time, I therefore don't have any "before cleaning photos". It never gets dirty enough to show up on photos and I also doubt a lack of shine would show up either. I have always kept it and my cars clean with a "Wash n'Wax" product which I used to obtain from Carapak which now seems to be a defunct company. I have found some of their products on eBay but not the Wash n'Wax. I am down to my last half bottle. If I give it a polish, perhaps once a year, as in the picture,
it is with Autoglym.
