Dometic Awning Issue - Poor Customer Support
Hi I am new to this forum and just wanted to make people aware of a problem that we have recently encountered. We bought a Dometic Air Awning in September 2024, which at the time we thought was a great addition to our caravan jollies. When we purchased it we were told that there may be some small leaks when we first used it as the stitching would expand. It was advertised as an all weather awning, we have used this awning 8 times since we purchased it and in December 2025 we stayed at Chatsworth House for 4 nights, we had a heavy rainstorm and the awning sprung a number of leaks, water was streaming through onto our furniture, groundsheet, coats, shoes (we do have photos and video of how bad it was). It was awful. We called and wrote to the supplier we purchased it from and they said that they would contact Dometic on our behalf of which they did, but it has taken Dometic 6 weeks to actually respond back to them. Dometic came back with a 2 line e-mail stating that the awning was out of its 12 month warranty and we should use reproof it with Fabsil??? We are obviously not happy with the response but would like some advice on if we should reproof it with Fabsil or is there another product we should try? Also if you are considering purchasing a Dometic Awning please be aware it is NOT FULLY WEATHERPROOF as they state. Thanks and would appreciate some advice on reproofing….
