I guess you mean a caravan? EmBee in Bury were ok, but I don’t know whether they do caravans any more.

Just make up your own mind but search the internet for reviews. For every good report you get of a dealer, another person will have had a bad experience. Get an independent inspection carried out on a caravan you fancy buying unless you are experienced and know what to look for.

As I said, some people will find a dealer good while others find him bad so your own personal experience is all you can rely on.

It's a bit like recommending a restaurant. If the chef leaves the following week it could change. However when we last bought a Caravan Campbells in Preston were by comparison to several others we tried, fairly good. They owned up to damaging the van on a PDI and fixed it later. This was some years ago though so the restaurant analogy applies.

@nelliethehooker uses Bardsea Leisure near Barrow and seems to get good service from them. Glossop Caravans have mixed reviews. We didn't get along with them at Glossop but our neighbour had excellent service. They also, I think, have a site at Barrow.

We have a friend who took Glossop Caravansto court, and won. All I would say is be very very wary. It was a good few years ago, but leopards do not lose their spots!

A lot of the smaller dealers have now been taken over by larger groups. Having said that it doesn't mean you will automatically get bad service from a larger dealer. I also think you have to be careful about what people say about the dealers they have used. We purchased four new caravans from a series of local dealers and did not have any issues but that could be because there were no serious problems to have resolved. With our two motorhomes we did have somr issues but they were always resolved to our satisfaction by the dealer we got them from. You can probable learn a lot from just visiting local dealers and getting a feel for how they interact with you.

You could try Ropers in Catterick. Our van originally came from them, and we have recently had what appears to be a very satisfactory warranty repair for damp done on our small Bailey. Not perhaps as far north as you would like, but…

We bought our current van new from Campbells Caravans in Preston at the time I read some of their reviews and was a bit wary but they were offering us a really good deal so we bought the van from them. Found them to be excellent our van did have a couple of issues at the beginning that Campbells fixed under warranty no problem we live 200 miles from them but for the first couple of years travelled to them for servicing and a couple of small jobs and they were very good. Our local dealer Halleys Caravans in Burnhouse Ayrshire are quite a small dealership but are very good we had our van serviced by them last year and also visit regularly for accessories etc and the staff are brilliant also used them a couple of years ago for a repair to our heating system again very good and reasonably priced

Like others have said we can all have good and bad experiences with dealers but if you do research hopefully you get a good one

@Bluescot as @Wherenext has said we have had good service from Bardsea Leisure at Ulverston, S.Cumbria, although we have bought from new from them. They do have a large stock of used vans on offer and an adjacent site, where we have stopped for free to get a feel for the new unit, but don't know if that applies used caravan purchases.
