Are you allowed to pitch a tent alongside a campervan on a pitch?

We have a 2 berth vw camper which we have just bought with the intention of getting an awning with a bedroom but for now while we figure things out, we were hoping to be able to put a tent up, which my husband and I would sleep in while my daughter has the safety of the van. Is this allowed?

………………or, book a tent pitch (a lot of Club Sites have tent pitches) and do it this way, until you get an awning? I am assuming your daughter is a child, not an adult. It would be harsh of Club to criticise this I think. Only downside is tent pitches tend to be further away from facility blocks.

Edit…. Having read @Tinwheeler link, it does sound as though you can put something larger than a pup tent up nowadays, for extra sleeping space, but not an awning as well. So you should be ok, although good luck getting comfy on the hard standing pitches. Thick camping mattress required.

I think that one is only allowed a pup tent adjacent to your unit on CAMC Sites. You may well be better joining the C&CC who have many more tent pitches.

    a. On pitches with awning space guests can erect an awning, however, should guests' awnings be wider than 2.5 metres and the awning pitch be unable to accommodate the size of this, the guest will be unable to erect their awning. Guests may also put up a tent for extra sleeping accommodation/storing of items, i.e. bikes, or a specially designed toilet or cooking tent, provided the main outfit is occupied, but please keep them within the designated pitch area.

I have assen awnings as well as extra tenets a few times on pitches, although these are (naturally for me) service pitches and rule 6a does appear to allow that provided it all fits on the pitch area, which is easy to note on aHS/SP.

In any case the OP @Ellis11983 has a camper van so (without a car) there will be plenty of space.

Our guests have been comfortable on a SP, but we always used a good inflatable airbed.
