Trees always drop sticky deposits. It isn’t just at Kendal site.

I have found pine trees the worst. Some trees seem to attract insects which drop sticky deposits. For this reason and the drip drip of rain drops from them and the possibility of deposits from roosting birds, I do not like parking under them.

Kendal is one (of two club sites) that we've only been to only once and would not go back to, and one the reasons for both sites actually is too much tree coverage. Everything else is fine as usual. Now full disclosure that was over 20 years ago so it may have changed.

Agreed. Kendal felt claustrophobic with trees around all the pitches.

@Cornersteady / @Tinwheeler / @peedee / @mgmagnette : Tree coverage is also on my list of things to look out for (to avoid) - as well as to include good road access and serviced pitches (😃). These days I usually have to rely on someone else to clean (especially the roof of ) my caravan. Never been to the Kendal site, but the trees may well put me off....

It depends on where we are and temperatures. If in the south of France with temps north of 30C we definitely want trees.

There are areas in the Kendal site that don't have overhanging trees. We've stopped there and found them on different areas. From memory I think the ones at ground level have some areas tree free but it's many a year since we have stopped at this site.

it pays to know what kind of trees you are parked under. Sycamores to be avoided, they are the bane of classic car owners everywhere…….

At Kendal I always try and pitch on a large area near to the entrance to the dog walk as the pitches are large so you can avoid pitches under trees. There are a number of glades there so if you are not there when it is very busy you should be able to find a pitch. You could always ask at reception when you book in which are the best pitches to avoid trees as well.

The worst site I found for lots of trees is Borrowdale but it is worth staying there for the wildlife and beautiful location, just a very short walk from Derwent Water.
