Is it possible and safe to walk from the Kendal site to Sizergh Castle?

I've not been there, but looking at the OS map you would have to walk on roads, but I assume as they are minor, they should be quiet. No paths are shown crossing the A591, and it's often not a good road to cross anyway due to traffic. The minor roads appear to cross under the 591, and you could take a path / track shortly after crossing

We have done it many a time. Sure, it is along country lanes but cars can see you coming. We have never encountered many. Plenty of members walk to the farm and to the pub along the lanes. It's not much further to the castle. Go under the A591 and turn right.

You can even walk into Kendal itself, following the River. We have done that as well, though it is a fair distance there and back. You could get a taxi back. Don't know your level of fitness.

We’ve spent a lot of time at this beautiful Kendal site and you can easily walk back along the access road, adjacent to the river then about 1/2 way along, turn right up the very quiet country lane which at the top turn right through the gates to the castle or straight in front to the fabulous and very old Strickland Arms. They’ve always, on previous years, given Club members 10% off.

Alternatively, speak to the site staff for direction through the woods at the back of the site to the lovely farm shop then along their access road to the country lane and go right towards the pub and castle 👍

@Gillway I think that you would now have trouble having a meal or a drink at The Strickland Arms as it closed in September last year and I have not seen any notice of it opening yet.

Wow! Aw that is a shame 😬 It was a beautiful pub and the food was amazing but under today’s financial climate and it was enough off the dual carriage, must have had an impact. The first time we ever went to the Kendal site, when it was still Low Park Wood, the pub was closed down then, so hopefully, when our economy strengthens and they’re not being hit with increased costs, someone will open it again 🤞

They have a sister pub - The Derby Arms - at Witherslack. Though not as near to Sizergh.
