Rainy days in the caravan/motorhome are actually great because...

I don't feel guilty about putting my feet up and doing nothing.

…….I can happily spend hours doing crafts like knitting, crochet, beading, reading, music listening. And then, if you drive out somewhere in your camper/MH, you can park up somewhere nice, and wildlife/birdwatch in your cosy, warm private cafe😄 What’s not to ❤️

Absolutely spot on @nelliethehooker! It doesn't matter rain or shine or us, we're away on a nother holiday, long or short, seeing new, or old places. There is something magical (and I can't think of a better word) about being away in the caravan, it's the same feeling I recall from childhood when we used to put a sheet over two back to back chairs.

The rain won't stop us or confine to the caravan necessarily unless we want a lazy day in. If we're outside all day in the rain then it's full on Gore-Tex jacket and trousers but I find that rustles too much for town and cities but (advert coming up) I can personally vouch for Rohan's dry range of trousers using their Barricade material. It feels and looks like normal material but is 100% waterproof and they have various styles, some of which look like 'normal' trousers, they are expensive but I assure you they do work, only thing you'll need some thermal leggings underneath at this time of year as they are thin.

I've found a porch awning useful as an 'airlock' or 'rainlock' before getting into/out of the caravan. Also service pitches are very useful when it's pouring too.

But yes as @Takethedogalong says I can quite easily spend a whole day doing stuff like that, well reading, listening not the knitting, and doing very little although I'll happily do that even in sunshine.

And it has to be said there is something great, smoothing even, about hearing the rain on the caravan roof at night.

I should have said that it's being away that we enjoy, regardless of weather, but we do not really enjoy getting ready to set off or setting up in the rain, but enjoyment we get from being away far outweigh these occasional necessities.

It’s about having a “can do, will do” approach. Some just take our famous British weather in their stride, others do something different. Ain’t no use moaning about it. One of best sea swims we ever did was in pouring rain in Cornwall, it was warm admittedly, but it was just another kind of wet!
