One of our best is Portheras Cove down on the Lands End Peninsula. It’s quite a walk as there is no close by parking, it needs healthy joints, good walking boots and it can be a bit of a scramble to get down onto the beach, hence it’s never busy. Fabulous wild swimming spot, but you have to be very careful and look at the conditions, as it can have a wicked undertow, and the big waves will slam you right up the beach, so only swim when it’s like a mill pond. No life guards, no cafes, just a beautiful walk, and a stunning beach. Closest parking is at Pendeen Lighthouse, down very narrow lanes, not many places to pass. Then a couple of miles of SW coast path walking, up, down, up, down. Otherwise it’s park on the main road between Morvah and Pendeen and find the footpath that leads down to the cove. Stunning on a hot sunny day.

For me I always think of where I would be happiest to have my ashes laid to rest. The place that draws me back time and again, now unfortunately only in memory, is a relatively small hill considering those around it. It's Kings How and lies a short walk from the clubs Borrowdale site. The view from it when climbed is magnificent as it gazes all the way down Derwentwater towards Keswick and onto the wonderful hills that lie to the north of the town. Off to the left you have Cat Bells etc and the right lies Castle Crags and Wadenlath. Turn around and you have the valley leading into the great mountain ranges beyond. My favourite time of year for this oft overlooked hill is Autumn when the hills come alive with Heather blossom.

I've been lucky in arriving at some many wonderful places both here in the UK and abroad. It's really hard picking out just one place but when I started thinking about it this came immediately to mind.

Oh how lucky we are to have such a plethora of wonderful places in the UK and usually accessible.

    Pedn Vounder Beach

Like @Takethedogalong it's near Lands End, a beautiful area of Cornwall. I have fond memories of many visits to an area I strive to go to every year. Like the spot chosen by @Takethedogalong it is not easy to get to unless the tide is very low when maybe once or twice a year it is possible to walk along the beach from Porthcurno. Otherwise, it is a steep descent from the top of the cliffs down a path with a few steps at the very bottom onto the sand. It's a lovely beach overlooked by the towering cliffs of Treen and it has a small cave at one end. At the end of the day if you are hungry or thirsty, the Logan Rock is a very welcoming pub close by.

@peedee been there as well 👍 I almost put it as my example to be honest, but given its proximity to Porthcurno, and that you can get round at low tide, it can be a lot busier. But looking down from the Minack Theatre is magical, we have seen basking sharks, dolphins and lots of seals around there. The whole of that area is simply gorgeous, some wonderful walks. Porthgwarra Cove was used as Nampara Cove in the Poldark remakes.

Northern POI……………Bamburgh Castle from the sea side. On a slightly misty day it looks like it is a CG image, so iconic and has been used in so many films and TV series. There’s a small car park just to the North of the castle through the village, but it possibly has height barriers on now.

Agree re Bamburgh Castle also Durdle Door in Dorset been many times when we lived in Somerset and had a seasonal on a local club site many years ago and my home areas the Malvern Hills Worcestershire if you know where to go can find some peaceful walks and stunning views and Mendips, Quantocks and Exmoor Somerset,

Have found a few places in Conwall and Devon again quieter areas with good views.

    I can't do this!! @Rowena

I did narrow it down to around 32 places... yes @Takethedogalong Bamburgh was one of them....

I think I'll put The Butt of Lewis near Ness on the Isle of Lewis (Outer Hebrides).... and stop on the way at the Wobby Dog of Lewis (cafe) at Lionel. .... but to be honest, it's around the same as the other 30-odd places.... 😀 The ferry crossing between Uig and Tarbert on Harris.... especially if you can catch the sunrise... is also really worth it....

Now I must stop, before I list the 30 other places!!

Braemar for me. We went back last April and it was just as spectacular as I remembered when The Club managed the site (The Invercauld Estate have taken it back now, but it’s pretty much the same as it was in 2010). The nearest Club site is Silverbank. The walking is as easy or challenging as you want and everything you want with independent little shops and eateries are in the village. Lots of deer and red squirrel and so very tranquil. My photos don’t scratch the surface.

@RedKite ... some of those were on my long list... I did a post but then copied it and deleted fom here, it as it was too long.... now I find myself adding bits... 😀😀

Copied from my notes: "In the middle of the country, I tend to like the Derbyshire Dales and the Cotswolds... - so many places - ,and if you can find Harcourt Hill just outside Oxford, you might find a wonderful view over the city.... and a reminder of college/uni days. Quite a good view from the Clent Hills too, and the Malverns - always reminds me of Edward Elgar, who spent much time walking on the Malverns."

    ....and....

"Portland Bill. Knoll Beach at Studland (on the Isle of Purbeck peninsular). Tyneham Village. We usually manage to visit some of these places, when we stay at Hunter's Moon CAMC site."

Beautiful Bodmin Moor😄 We used to do the Golitha Falls and woodland walk regularly @eurortraveller. As you say, well off the beaten tracks, and all the lovelier for it, some gorgeous walks up there.

One of my favourite views is actually from a club site. At Hillhead club site if you go up to the dog walk and walk right across to the end you can get a great view of Torbay very nice view we don’t have a dog but I venture up there most mornings when we are at Hillhead just to admire the view

I sometimes think the best beauty spot is often the one right in front of you!

But for me it's anywhere in the lakes. I can look at the views from the valleys, and yes you can visits the tops and make the ascent as easy or as hard (in terms of effort not difficulty) as hard as you like but also with only a little effort and perhaps 10 to 20 minutes easy walking you get away from the crowds. This is from the top of Binsey (a Wainwright) which is an easy 20 minute walk from Binsey Lodge behind Skiddaw taken last December.

I agree about the Lakeland views, Bamburgh Castle from the beach, and a similar view looking South to Dunstanburgh Castle from the golf course at Embleton however my first choice is looking onto Loch Tulla with the Black Mount beyond, and the twin Beinns to the side called in snow, with the anticipation of the views down Glen Coe to come very shortly.

Anywhere along the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, from St David's or Freshwater East Club sites. From Freshwater East take the coast path to your right and walk over to Barrafundal Bay. Stunning scenery and the best beach in Wales (and we've got plenty of those).

We made the mistake (only once mind) of stopping whilst traversing Rannoch Moor to take some photos. We instantly became lunch but not for long. It was a beautiful ride though.

Oh it’s got to be the Lake District for us. I always remember my first glimpses, it took my breath away. Our first stay was in Troutbeck Valley, so beautiful waking up to that view every morning. The view across Derwent Water towards Catbells, just lovely. The view from the hill above Hawkshead church, taking in the church, the little town and the surrounding hills. And standing in the centre of Castlerigg standing stones with the beautiful views all around. I just wished that we lived nearer. We are surrounded by lovely beaches but I just don’t get beach and sea views, it’s the green countryside that does it for me.

Here you go @DEBSC. A little memory for you. I'm fortunate as I get to look at Castlerigg every day as OH did a painting of a slightly different view of it and it hangs on a wall at home.

Thanks @Wherenext . It’s just stunning isn’t it. OH bought a painting of it and it hangs on the wall above our desk and computer, so each time we look up from the screen we see it. We have paintings of Derwent Water and Tarn Hows as we go up our stairs.

So many great places to see in the UK but for me any view of Dartmoor as that's home.
