Hi, we have had a caravan for some time but my wife no longer wishes to do camp site holidays. I still love them, so we'll be selling our caravan and I hope to buy a trailer tent and downsize from my Land Rover Freelander too. Can anyone recommend a good self charging hybrid that is economical to run and tow about 750Kg please?

I would not get to wrapped up in the idea of a self charging hybrid.

I've owned a 2019 Audi A3 1.5L petrol from new. Last week I drove from Devon to Merseyside and back solo. I kept to 55/60mph and showed 73mpg on the way up and 69mpg on the way back. I actually recorded 69.8mpg when I brimmed the tank after lots of running around before coming back to Devon. I usually return 48-52mpg running around, but out of rush hour. Towing I return 32-34mpg with 1350+kg van. I did see 40mpg towing previous 1200kg van around NL.

I doubt you would get much better with a hybrid so keep your options open.
