Bike Rack Storage Bags or Boxes

Hi,

I have a Thule bike rack attached to a "barn door" (double rear door hinged hinged separately) on an Auto Trail Adventure 55. I am looking to increase storage, especially for out door items (2 chairs, a table, a tarpaulin, water hose, and levelling blocks).

I have contacted Auto Trail and have been advised that it would be okay to use the bike rack to provide increased storage as long as the maximum weight for bicycles is not exceeded. The maximum weight for bicycles on the bike rack is 35 kg, and I calculate that I want to carry just over 12 Kg (plus any carry bag or box).

I can find storage boxes that can be fitted to a tow bar and to a centrally fitted bike rack, but have found nothing for a barn door bike rack. Is anyone aware of anything that is available/could anyone point me towards anywhere that might help?

It seems such an obvious thing that I can't believe there isn't something out there.

    Are you aiming to do something similar to our set up? We carried our folding chairs in a bag which we bought cheaply from eBay and simply strapped it on to the rack after removing the bike rails.

    Be aware that as well as there being a load limit for the rack, the base vehicle has a limit to the weight the hinges of the back doors will take.

    I Googled "camper back boxes" and it came up with at least a couple similar to what you require. I changed the search to show images and there appears to be plenty out there. Try it but you would need to dig deeper to see if they would meet your requirements.
