It has come to light that the caravan site there has operated for the last 45 years without up to date planning permission. Savills are the Club agents seeking to regularise the situation with the local council. . There’s quite a bit on that council website. But it sounds as though it’s not yet sorted so bookings not currently being taken.

Perhaps it was the fault of the club not submitting a request for the planning permission to be update following changes. If they had requested this update then they have not followed up their submission. Why have you immediately jumpy to the conclusion that it is the fault of the council?

@babyrhino We have a regulation based planning system which puts the responsibility on the property owner to abide by those regulations. I don't know the history of that particular site but if it was developed before the Club took over it's possible things weren't in order then. We see in the news all the time people seeking retrospective planning so its far from unusual. I would aggree that the Club's Estates department should be on top of the situation but even then it might have been them that discovered the issue to be fair to them?

We had a friend stay there last year and this year and was told by the staff that the site was closing for good of this years season as the site is no longer viable which means not making enough profit to keep it open, he aslo said only 3 outfits on site most of the time he was there and very few seasonals.
We have stayed on there a few times in the past and enjoyed the area as not far from where we lived in Somerset.

FYI the seasonal where all sold out and since the toilet block was condemned rather than spend some maintenance money on it the site ran as a CL My problem is they are not communicating with people who have booked for next year if they come up front and say it’s closed we can reschedule but they have blatantly liars got a email saying the are not closing

@nelliethehooker what changes to planning

I have no idea how long the site has been in the club's possession, but surely during that length of time, whatever it is, there have been changed made that should have had planning permission.

We stayed for one night at this lovely little site back in July 2023 on route to Damage Barton site, at this time the toilet & shower block was fully open. We thought the site was a great quiet place to stay and whilst not lots of places easy to walk to from the site we would have considered returning. The closure of the amenity block was a possible sign the club was not going to invest in maintenance works. The two ladies who managed the site were a pleasure to deal with.

Have I missed seeing the denial?

Somerset Council gave the green light on the missing planning permission earlier this month - and I presume the new purchasers of the site wanted that in place before signing the contract of sale.

Why do you think we know? You really need to ask camc these questions rather than fellow posters.
Would you reply to my previous post please as I’m still looking for the denial to which you refer.

You appear to be addressing CAMC but the discussion forum is not the place. I suggest you use the contact us link and talk to the club.
Anything written here about planning will be subject to public view available to anyone who searches.

Sorry I'm totally lost @babyrhino you posted upthread:
so for 6 months they have denied this was happening
I assume they means the club but where is this six months and where was the denial in that period? Also you appear to be implying it's been ongoing, that is more than once? But now you say the denial (singular) is in the email?
And who is this one person that knew?
As to why is it for sale, I would think no one on here would know only the club. It may have been leased and that came to an end, or it may have not been been economically viable? I would write to the club?
