Funny old world when the Club tells me nothing about it but Motorhome Fun does.

The club told you on 9 Dec and PD has linked to the announcement.

PD’s link is taken from this site. What more can I say?🤷🏻♂️

@Hja Is it important knowing who it is? Is it that important to your membership? It isn't to mine. The standard and of club sites are.
I think that for most members, the ones that just use club sites and services, and outside of CT, care not one jot about the chief executive.
I'm pretty sure there will be an announcement in the club magazine soon?

I am sure CS is right in that most members only have a passing interest in who is in charge of the Club? I suppose the change in job title is a nod to more modern job title designation although I prefer DG as it makes the Club sound a bit different. Usually names of senior management only come to the fore when things change or go wrong and it sounds that Harvey Alexander has been key to recent changes? I think going forward the Club will need someone of vision to ensure it survives the changes the hobby will under go in the coming years?

Hi everyone,
We are delighted to confirm that Harvey Alexander has been appointed our new Chief Executive following the decision of Nick Lomas, to retire after many years of dedicated service.
Nick will officially step down on 23 February 2026 and Harvey will formally take up the role. Until that time, Harvey will be Chief Executive Designate and continue undertaking his current role at the Club as Director of Marketing and Membership Services.
Harvey joined the Club in 2015 as Director of Marketing and I've had the pleasure of working with him. David Turner, Chair of our Club, said the appointment reflects the care taken by our Executive Committee in running a thorough, market-wide search.

@Hja Well they do but indirectly, if the staff and governance is good and they do a good job then people join, and rejoin, spend money in the organisation and it flourishes. That's all the interest that is required isn't it?

This is a members club, and members should be given this sort of information directly.
I'm pretty sure that most don't care one jot about the heaps of promotional emails they get each week, but it doesnt stop them being sent. The same could be said about the club magazine

@peedee a rose by any other name…

Until recent times I had no idea who was DG of the BBC and I pay a lot more for that 'membership' than the club. There are a quite a few other voluntary 'memberships' or rather yearly subscriptions for various global software and streaming services, then international travel companies, insurances, and in all of them I have absolutely no idea really who is at the top or how they are governed. I just look at what they offer and their prices and is it worth it, or an advantage worth paying to be a 'member'.
Some of them I get to vote for but they are just names. Same with the club.

@TimboC well the last 'promotional email' I received was today, titled get away for less in 2026, talked of 10% off Spring and Autumn Getaways, £40 off summer breaks, and one set price at selected UK Club campsites, and kids for a £1.
I would have thought that would have been of great interest to a lot of members? Of course the emails aren't always of interest to everyone but there's always the delete button, it's impossible for the club to know when something is of interest and it isn't, and of course there are always plenty of complaints on here when people don't get these offers.
But actually if they don't care a jot about the other emails that appear then members can opt out of receiving virtually all these other promotional emails through my communication preferences in their profiles. There's vast array of options in there one can switch on or off.
And of course the same with the club magazine. If members don't care about the magazine why don't they unsubscribe to it?
This is what one can opt out of in case anyone is wondering:

@TimboC I think the Club Magazine is considered the means of communication for such events and news? Emails seem to be used for more promotional uses. Someone with a long memory might be able to remind me whether we were informed about the name change by email or in the magazine? I appreciate that it would have been in the magazine but where did the news break?

@Hja You mean unchecked? You tick, or 'check them', not to receive them. There is no option to check to receive?
By putting a cross in one of the boxes below you’re saying ‘no’ to receiving marketing communications about that product, benefit, or service.

Oh I see, That's shame and annoying. All I can suggest is have you tried your emails on various platforms? Web based and on a few different app based ones? As well as on different devices? Sounds as if your anti virus software may be stopping them or they are being classes as spam?

Director General might make the club "sound a bit different", but it's a bit pretentious in my view for a comparatively minor members club. Such a title is usually reserved for large organisations and, typically, quasi-government ones like the BBC, the WHO (no not the group), MI5, UNESCO, the Civil Service and so on and so on.
Anyway, I'm no longer a member so I don't have an official say, but, if I was a member, I think I'd be with Corners and say "who cares"!

Perhaps I am reading more into it. My understanding is a DG just takes care of day to day running i.e follows a strategy/policy set by, in the case of the C&mC, the Executive Committee whereas a CEO usually sets strategy and policy as well as keeps an eye on day to day affairs.

@Hja Outlook is just an app or a piece of software on your device, that draws downs and sends your messages from/to your email/internet provider.
Who is your email provider? My email providers are virgin media and microsoft.
I have a virgin media email address (which is my main one) and an outlook one (which I use as a back up or secondary one for some uses). I use outlook to read the virgin media on my PC and gmail on my phone to access both.
However if I wanted to I could access both by using just a web based/internet version for both. This is sometimes useful if I don't have my phone, or away from home but have access to a computer somewhere.
As I said try accessing your email through the internet or webmail base, your internet provider should have guidance on how to do this, just google virgin media webmail, or outlook webmail, (insert you provider's name here), or use another email program like gmail if your email provider doesn't have webmail but many do.
It sounds as if it is outlook that is causing the problem as I assume the same settings are used across you two devices as they will be linked, check the settings? And check your spam folder (which I assume you have anyway).

I have no interest in whatever the title is now. When I was in employment, management titles used to change with a reorganisation, but they still did the same work.
What I am interested in, is the closure of many of the cheaper, minimum facility sites ,not everyone requires full facility expensive sites.

@Fozzie all is not lost. I assume you know that Marazion and Bromyard Downs are back open, under private management? Certainly not as cheap as they used to be, but then almost every kind of site has seen price increases, but at the moment, cheaper than Club Sites. I think both are looking to invest in a facility block, so that might see another price increase. But if you are like us, and enjoy basic sites, can avoid things like deposits and up front payments by arriving on spec or not booking up front, then they might be good value.
I am watching developments around the Rothbury/Nunnykirk Estate with interest. This is subject to a big land sale, linked to Duchy of Northumberland, would be good if this campsite was to re open as well. 🤞
