We will be setting off shortly on our Xmas trip. Sites booked for the whole trip, 2 CLs and 3 C&CC sites before spending the holiday period on a CL we have used before. Hopefully meeting up with friends for a night and then our son and DIL.

We're away for Christmas as usual - back to Sandringham Club site after the refurb. Looking forward to having a fully-serviced pitch this year - something that has been long overdue there.

We are away in December, but in a cottage up on Hadrian’s Wall. After that, we will probably try and have the odd couple of nights away in MH somewhere. We will decide where a couple of days before, keeping an eye on weather. But having Xmas at home, close to Mum❤️

We're off to Shropshire, a couple of Morris Leisure sites at 3for2 👍️and slightly further afield just out of Shropshire a C&CC site. Not been to Ludlow before, nor Worcester, so planning on visiting that by bus from the C&CC site at Great Malvern.

@InaD Ludlow is lovely. Castle worth a visit, and don’t miss the big church, it has some fantastic misericord carvings on the little fold up seats. Nice place for good food as well. Henry VIII’ brother, Arthur is buried close to King John in Worcester Cathedral👍

I can also recommend Ludlow I used to live not far away from it, some lovely old Black and White buildings and the Feathers Hotel which I have a very old sketch of which hangs in our hall, also Malvern and Worcester my home county plenty to see and do Great Malvern Priory and Little Malvern Priory are interesting as well, plenty of good walks around Malvern area @nelliethehooker.

We are having a quiet December and Xmas at home this year as we had 5 weeks away looking after a friend's house last Xmas

May have the odd day out somewhere in December.

@Takethedogalong and @RedKite thanks for your input 👍️the cathedral in Worcester was the main reason for staying at Great Malvern, and several people we've spoken to recently have said Ludlow is lovely, so your comments bear that out. Thanks!

Am I right in my recall of Cadfel having connections with Ludlow church/cathedral?

Loved the area, wouldn't mind a revisit, but I doubt it'll happen soon......

@RedKite it is an area we know quite well, but I doubt we will head into the city. We might pay a visit to Ledbury and Eastnor Castle, although it won't be open, we will go for a walk on the estate grounds, as well as on Malvern and Castlemorton commons.

@Bakers2 Cafael was based at the Benedictine Abbey in Shrewsbury, which no longer stands, just the church remains. The TV series a as actually filmed in Hungary

@nelliethehooker thank you. Of course it was Shrewsbury! I has a quick look in and typed swift reply. I was interrupted very quickly and didn't recall properly!

Servicing all done and now planning a few days away before Christmas to visit BIL and a Christmas market. We also want to try a site, new to us, to see if it is suitable for a family gathering for Christmas 2026.

As @nelliethehooker says, based in Shrewsbury, and surrounding areas. The Abbey is well worth a visit if in the area, as is the Castle. We are Cadfael fans, and back in the 90’s visited Shrewsbury. There was a really good Cadfael visitor experience not far from the Abbey, an interpretation of the Abbey gardens and his hut, plus a museum at that time, probably when the TV programme was popular. It was very interesting. Not there now though. All that Shropshire area, and it’s lovely towns is worth an extended visit, some decent CLs dotted around. We miss the Much Wenlock site, that was really nice. Very different, but I rather fancy a night at Love2Stay, just outside Shrewsbury.

Love to Stay is fine in the off season but if visiting Shrewsbury itself then the Morris Leisure site Oxan Hall is much better, the park and ride and shops and takeaways are almost next door.

Thanks PD…..the lure is the swimming pond! We have used a number of nice CLs not too far away from both Ludlow and Shrewsbury in the past. The Morris Leisure sites do look nice, think they offer Winter deals as well.

@Takethedogalong We've stayed at the Morris site near Shrewsbury, very convenient for getting bus into town (but it doesn't have a pool). Their current offer is 3for2, code is on website, which, together with a discount for being a CAMC or C&CC member, brings it down from an expensive £43 per night to a very reasonable £25.60 per night, if booking 3 nights.
