Alde Heating- Hot water

We have a 2020 Coachman VIP 520 which has Alde heating and hot water. We have always felt that the hot water becomes too hot particularly in the winter when the central heating is in use. We have recently returned from a holiday when the water was even hotter, steaming. I tried to reduce the temperature by turning the power down to 1kw and turning off the display in the ignore hot water triangle on the control panel. But still the hot water heated up even when the panel turned on the overnight feature and turned the heating off! Is there a thermostat somewhere in the system and does it need replacing?

Thanks for any help offered,

John

Hiya @JSGARTH . Just to be clear, have you tried turning down the temperature on the ALDE control panel?

You don't say which model of Alde heating system you have? Have alook at the manuals for your model and see if that sheds any light on the problem. It does sound as if your hot water is getting too hot but you may need to measure the temperature to be sure. I believe hot water temperatures are fixed as a safety measure to protect against the formation of Legionella and cannot be adjusted.

I can't remember how the Alde system worked in our last van - but in this one - with Truma heating, there is the facility to switch to "Eco" mode which heats the water to 40 degrees - as opposed to the 60 degrees when set to "Hot" or "Boost". We always use the latter two options but have to turn the temperature control on the mixer tap down because it's too hot. Is there something similar with Alde?

We have the older Alde 3010 system, if we fill the water system and give it power, gas or electricity, it will heat the water even without the CH being running. Settings are either normal temperature, 50 I think, or a boost to 65 degrees for a longer shower, so there must be a thermostat somewhere in the hot water system.

We also have a Legionella function, when activated this heats the water to the higher temperature at 2am for a certain length of time to kill any bugs.

The newest Alde 3030 has 3 settings for hot water, off, normal, or boost. Not sure what the 3020 model has.
