Perhaps if you explain what the 'trouble' is we might have some suggestions.

it sends me on long detours, it sends me down dead ends, it even tried to send me down a cycle path

you put in your vehicle dimensions, and it makes no difference, still sends you down lanes just about wide enough for a horse, i have contacted Avtex, they are hopeless, twice they failed to collect.

Isn’t it essentially a Garmin satnav? Perhaps your settings could do with a review?

Try going to the Part & Accessories section where satnavs are generally discussed and search for other issues/fixes.

Incidentally, you can edit your posts for up to an hour to save splitting.

I bought the Avtex satnav, some time ago through an offer with this Club and, essentially had the same experience as you - so I sent it back and got a full refund. I set up a couple of test routes at home - local routes that I know well and instead of sending me the sensible way, it chose ridiculous and unnecessary alternatives which were totally unsuitable for the vehicle dimensions I had entered.

I may be wrong but I now understand that since there is no comprehensive database of road widths - certainly in this country - there is no way it can deliver what it promises.

I have posted on here, many times, about the method I now use. I have a Tomtom satnav which is Wifi enabled and use it in coordination with the TT "MyDrive" App. I plan the route in MyDrive and then go into Google Maps and 'drive' any suspect bits using Street View. I modify the MyDrive route as necessary and then save it in "My Routes" in the App. The App automatically syncs with the satnav - via Wifi - and I just have to select it on the satnav and it takes me down the exact route I have selected. No last minute changes or surprises and if it turns out you've got it wrong - there's no one to blame but yourself!😀

I just use Google Maps these days, and like @richardandros, just check the suspect bits by 'following the route through' before we leave home. The worst bit is usually the immediate approach to the site, so if it's a CAMC site, I always check out the site information, on the CAMC website, for directions to approach the site.

its amazing to think that the CAMC recommend this Avtex Tourer Three, and it does not do what they say it should,,I think I paid £480 altogether , should have just plotted routes on the back of twenty pound notes//

Having read all the problems with the Avtex & the humongous price of it I opted for a £38 HGV sat nab off of eBay.

No problems with route selection so far.
