Towing which caravan and up which hills?
Everyday driving will be one thing, but restarting if you get stuck with a 2 tonne, twin axle job part way up Porlock hill might give you pause for thought .

You need to look at the Club’s outfit matching service, which car, which caravan. You will also need to consider what kind of sites you want to use, easy stuff like Club Sites, or more challenging such as CLs, and how much weight you intend carrying as well as towing the outfit.

Personally, we have never towed with anything other than a 4x4, but that’s choice.

Me too..but I’m the ultimate Luddite who towed a small Eriba for many years with a 2.2 litre diesel Land Rover over a good many Alpine passes - though north bound Colle di Tenda is not a route I would recommend. Did they ever re open the tunnel at the top?

I recommend you start by finding out two critical data points. First, the bhp of the car with a depleted battery (272 bhp will almost certainly include electric drive element) and second the club provides a recommended minimum bhp per tonne of train weight in their handbook (train weight = car weight + caravan MTPLM). A further consideration is front wheel drive versus 4 wheel drive if you are going to be touring in hilly areas on narrow roads where hill starts are likely (especially during the more traditional wet English summer!).
