I noticed the following when investigating the release of seasonal pitches for next year.

    • Due to the challenging weather conditions of the Winter, we have decided to separate the pitch fee and electricity for our seasonal pitches which include any of the months between November and February. We have therefore reduced the seasonal base price, and electricity will be payable to the site team at the end of each month based on usage. The Winter seasonals for 2026/7 that will be metered and charged separately at Carnon Downs, Cirencester Park, Edinburgh, Hunter’s Moon and Melrose Gibson Park Club Campsites.

It seems that metering is possible at more sites than I realised, but currently restricted to seasonal pitches between November and February.

At least those occupiers will now have a choice as to whether they wish to hook up or not and get a discount if they don't.

@Wherenext no they have a choice to use EHU or not but there is no extra discount as that is already been given (apparently) as in the quote given by Steve.

The seasonals at Melrose were always on the same pitches year after year so I assume these have been modified to have some form of metering either within the bollard or the usage can be seen from the office, or this may have been the case all along?

Fully in favour of metering; a recent site we stayed on kept the meter at £20 and you pay when you leave for how much it dropped. We paid £4 for one night. I'd rather do this than be expected to pay £7 or £8 flat rate as we've seen elsewhere. That equates to around £200+ for a month -way more than my home bill with a washing machine, dishwasher etc! It's also quite galling when you're being careful and others have every device going to 'get their money's worth'!

@TwoJays which club site has a flat rate of around £8 for EHU?

We have recently had our first short break on a metered site, just two nights. Pitch fee was £23 per night (hardstanding, lovely heated loo and shower block, laundry on site, farm walks, pub and shop close by, picnic tables, no extras for awnings, dogs or parking.) pitches are now metered, we put £10 onto a card at 37p per Kw/h. We were in our outfit on pitch from 4.30pm, until 10.30 am, and used a small oil filled radiator, charged all our tech (phones, iPads) and used an air fryer one night, cooked with gas another. Lighting on all time in outfit. Outside temp was 10c, slightly lower early in morning. We used site showers both mornings. On leaving, meter checked and we were refunded just under £6 of the £10 on the card. We didn’t do anything different than we usually do in terms of heating, cooking or charging. So for us, this has been a really good experience. A reasonable overall pitch price, with excellent site facilities, and we were only charged for the energy we used.
