Why is it when you post on some older threads the posts do not appear as new on the "discussions" and "home" pages. e.g.

There are other examples, I just picked on a recent one. Has anyone else noticed this?

I am not seeing it RandR using Firefox and an Android tablet. What are you using? I feel certain the same happens on my W11 PC using Firefox. e.g

How strange PD - I'm using an IMac - running Sequoia and using Chrome browser.

I have to say I've noticed a few other little quirks - like a heading remaining in bold text even though I've read the thread - sometimes even when I've gone back to it later (and it isn't bookmarked). Not bothered raising it before.

I'll switch to Safari and see what happens with that.

@peedee - works OK on Safari

Your first opening post at 11.42 hasn't shifted the thread to the first page on my front sheet @peedee. Haven't noticed this anomaly before.

I'm assuming you made the post on an old existing discussion of electric meters rather than the recent one as you are not showing on that one either. I'm using Safari on a MacBook.

Thanks so it is not only me. I have noticed it on at least 3 or perhaps 4 of my posts over the last weeks.

I don't seem to be missing any of my posts but have lost posts when pressing the "post comment" box on a couple of occasions and it hasn't turned up in drafts.

@peedee - I've just posted on a thread about "falling interest or prices too high ". I found it on page 5. That thread is still on page 5. It's not been put onto the most recent threads, just as you have reported. I noticed that although I was shown as the most recent poster the date was stuck at 31 July and am wondering if this is a recurring problem with the forum. You may recall that @nelliethehooker has been reporting non moving dates on the "Welcome to the forum" thread.

I think I'll report your thread to @Rowena as I feel that any new person posting on an old thread may not find it moved forward in date order as it should be.

II too have just added to thread mentioned by @Wherenext above and it has not appeared on this page, highlighted, as it should do automatically!

I have had my suspicion for some time that locking the date is a moderation tool to relegate posts from the front pages. Following the latest case, I am convinced this is the case as it appears to only happen on contentious posts.

That is surely a conspiracy theory, PD. If the thread wasn’t wished to be seen, it would simply been removed. I can’t see Ro playing the games you suggest.

To my mind it’s more likely that moderation by way of removing posts upsets the software in some way and it can’t cope with adjusting the date.

With respect, PD, if you want an answer you have to ask the question to the right person.

Btw, I don’t think there is ever a ‘need’ to speculate. Just ask.

What is the basis for your belief?

Personally I think it's a software matter. The same sort of thing happened in the old version.

Also there are posts where there no apparent moderation has taken place where the times of posting is out by a couple of hours.

As said just a conspiracy theory.

This morning the system won’t let me edit posts. I’m guessing it’s another software issue but should I be thinking that someone wants me to leave the mistakes in situ so I look stupid?

@Tinwheeler yes I've noticed that the post appears then it's blank. However this was on my phone, I'm now on the main computer and all is well again. And yes a good theory😂

Some say I don't need any help in that matter!

    This line is an edit.

    And this one.

Well, let’s try it on the pad.

Wey-hey, all is well on the pad but it fails on the phone. I’ve alerted Ro via a report.

Well it's obviously been done to stop people using their phones to edit on CT?
