A couple of questions please if possible, we have a motorhome and want to use buses etc rather than driving so is anyone able to tell me if the site is close to a bus stop? Are there walks straight from the site? Any suggestions or information gratefully received.

Google Maps will show the location of bus stops and also give you real time information of frequencies.

If you have a smart phone download bustimes.org. As said Google Maps will show you bus stops and links to time tables then with bustimes you can track buses.

I’ve never visited, but the ordnance survey does not show any public footpaths easily accessible from the site. The site is dead centre of the map (blue caravan).

I know the area but not the site. There are places worth visiting in the area but I think you will have to take the motorhome off site to get to them

I have not stayed there since 2011, but there was a bus and I caught it to Crich Tramway Museum from outside the site entrance. Looking online, it still runs, albeit infrequently. It is the 142 operated by Stagecoach between Nether Heage and Alfreton and vice versa. There are stops, either way, very close to the site entrance. Search on Stagecoach website for the 142 Nether Heage to Alfreton. I don't know how to attach a link on this site.

I also remember walking down into the Derwent valley and passing Ambergate railway station. I recall it to be a fairly strenuous walk involving, inevitably, given that the site is high over the valley, a steep hill. I do not usually do walks unless there is a pavement or hard core path, so I doubt I would have been walking on roads. But I can't remember for sure. As others have mentioned using Google maps and street view will tell you a lot.

We were there a couple of weeks ago. There's a bus stop about 100metres from the club entrance but not sure how frequent the service is. We were on bikes which I found very challenging- it's not often I have to get off and push!. My wife's eBike made short work of the terrain. The site itself is wonderful; great facilities and really clean.
