Insurance through CAMC

Just got my insurance quote email from the CAM club. Quoted £580. I thought it wasn't too bad as it cost over £700 last year as I clipped the wing mirror of a (poorly parked) councul truck on a narrow road.
I phoned the number on the CAM club letter head on the renewal notice to tell them I had a different debit card number than the one they had.
The CAM club insurance office must be in another country because the person on the other end started by saying "good morning". It was 3:30 in the afternoon.
Okay, so the CAM club insurance desk/office isn't at the CAM club. The club must have delegated that service to another company. But why put a CAM club heading on the letter from the insurance broker?
Do the CAM club take a cut from every member who buys insurance through the broker, and do we get our insurance at a discount?
It says in the letter from the CAM club (insurance broker) that they'll always try to find us the best deal. If I hadn't phoned the broker I'd have paid the £580, thinking it was good. The broker hadn't tried to find me a better deal because, after a few minures, he said he could sell me insurance for £540. Good job I phoned.
But I'd already been on 'Confused.com' and found I could get insured through Adrial Flux for £480. I told the CAM club insurance broker this, and after going away again to 'talk to his manager' he came back with a price of £499.
I could have said "forget it, I'll go directly to Adrian Flux and save myself £20, but by this time I was so hacked off with all this 'wheeler dealing' that I accepted the offer.
It shouldn't be like this. The CAM club letter promises that they'll always look for the best deal for us, which would save a lot of faffing about if they kept to their promise.
I think the CAM club need to find themselves a better broker for us. Unless commission they're making on insurance sales is buying some new glamping pods with lovely views over lakes and forests dahling.

Some will say the clubs insurance policy is something over and above your normal caravan insurance, but they are not getting my money. I've posted before how for £31.5K of new for old cover etc, I'm paying £214 for a policy on as near as a like for like basis that I can find where the club wants £700+. The club has a huge membership and should be able to come up with better prices.

I wasn’t sure whether it was car insurance or caravan insurance. Can you please clarify.
If it is car insurance and with a previous claim you might have got a bargain. I wish I could get it for that price.

    I’m guessing it’s a motorhome.

No, can’t be a Motorhome. They are all insured with the Comfort company.

You understand these things Tinny. Have I grasped it?
The guy hits a parked lorry, gets a reduction of £200 on his insurance, and then comes here to complain he was badly treated. Is that it?

I’d not put it quite like that 🤔
