Replacing window seals on 2004 Motorhome

Hi all,
In my recent hab check, a small amount of damp was detected below 2 of the windows on our 2004 Rapido 786f. The technician recommended replacing the window seals, so I set to and managed to remove the smallest of the windows. It was hard to get out as it was sealed with some sealant that was not set hard (I'm guessing Sikaflex?) applied inside of the rubber seal itself.
I managed to source some of the rubber seal (for Seitz 4/5/6 windows) and after a protracted battle, removed the old Sikaflex.
I've been researching the process and find equal numbers of people who recommend using Sikaflex again and on the other hand, people who say not to use it as it's so hard to remove.
What's the concensus here?
Thanks

Are you likely to want to remove it again? It sounds as if your window was seated on non-setting sealant which is easier to remove than the setting variety.
