Yes of course it exists. Google Travel Insurance for UK holiday.

Did you know that the deposit you need to leave is miniscule - you can choose to leave a hefty deposit, or pay everything up front...... But the mandatory deposit is next to nothing, and even if you booked four or five sites per year and lost the deposit for each one of them, the insurance you are talking about taking out would probably cost significantly more than that.

I assume that this is not a club site @MichelleMc. The club's deposits is refundable if before the 21 days but it's only £5 per stay anyway.
We have travel insurance that would cover us for UK stays but the excess is (can't remember actually) but something like £50 -£100 so not worth it in many cases. Certainly not with the club.

If you stand to loose £500 or more it might be worth it, but otherwise I wouldn’t bother. We claimed on our red pennant insurance on a £550 claim for a bereavement and there were a lot of hoops to jump through. The claim was accepted but after the excess and costs for doctors reports we ended up with £400. Of course on top of this was the cost of the insurance, which in our case as it was Europe we needed, therefore it wasn’t an additional cost as it would be in the UK. Also I suspect you would really struggle to get claims accepted for unfavourable weather.

@MichelleMc an afterthought but a few sites do offer their own insurance for a few pounds per night.

With 130 Club sites having vacancies today (Friday) booking well ahead, paying deposits and taking out insurance seems pointless. Even today in midsummer a phone call the day before seems to be enough at most Club sites. Is the commercial sector any different?

On taking out insurance for club sites I would totally agree.
However, as far as tonight being free at 130 sites. That’s OK if you only want tonight, but not so good if you want the weekend or a week and it’s not available. Then of course there is pitch type to consider, if you want a service pitch, not just any pitch, they tend to get booked up first. If you want a particular location on fixed dates it’s always worth booking. Particularly with the CAMC with its minimal £5 deposit.2 -
The only time we use insurance is for overseas, and anything booked well in advance, for a particular date and location, with a full payment required well in advance. If you can minimise on the advance, be flexible on your dates, and aren’t tied to a single location, you need never think about insurance for Club Sites. It’s not really a problem, unless you (or family) have regular underlying health issues. Just don’t expect to get away with a late cancellation because it’s raining though. If you are in the position of being able to go away at very short notice, you can rather easily just book a Club Site on morning of departure if you check late availability. School holidays at certain sites might be busy, same with weekends at some sites, but Sites are less busy than they were post COVID.

As far as Club sites are concerned I doubt insurance would be worth while. However commercial sites that demand large deposits and often full payment weeks before you arrive it might be a worthwhile option but you would have to look at any policy excess to see if it were worthwhile. In recent years we lost a fair amount of money where we had to pay in full before arrival. I appreciate that campsites have to protect their income but its a shame that some don't show a little more leeway, Interesting that it some of the best known campsites who are the least flexible, having said that in many years of camping we have lost relatively little in the scheme of things and you could just conclude that its better just to take it on the chin?

@eurortraveller If you can go tonight or can holiday on a moment's notice there is no need, agreed, but for those not as fortunate as perhaps you and me in this respect who have to work and have to put in their holiday time many weeks or months in advance or, as I did, only have set weeks, then people will book in advance. People won't take the risk and leave a family holiday till the day before, there might be space but there might not, so people do book, and this applies to all types of sites club or not. And of course if you want a particular location and dates, some won't have space, look at Seacroft.
I agree that Insurance for club sites is pointless, the excess can often be perhaps 10 times the deposit and payment is usually on arrival. Having insurance for other non club sites could mean you don't lose a substantial sum.
