Does anyone have experience of using their touring caravan whilst on continuous peritoneal dialysis (CAPD) please? Husband will shortly be starting his dialysis and we would like to continue touring so any info would be helpful, thank you.

Thank you Wherenext, I had seen that post. My husband will be doing the continuous peritoneal dialysis, which is done manually 4 times a day. Layton1937 appears to refer to haemodialysis which is done in a hospital or kidney centre.

I knew of this happening, but it was some years ago now so things might have changed, so you do need to speak with Head Office. Previously, an arrangement was agreed with the site Warden who accepted a number of pretty large boxes of medical solutions and relevant paraphernalia and would clear a secure area for them to be stored, prior your arrival. Before leaving site, you have to have made arrangements for everything that’s left, to be collected. Hope this helps 🤞

Whilst appreciating that your husband will be on CAPD the attached, whilst referring mainly to Haemodialysis, does contain some information for you plus including a telephone number. Hope this helps.

Thank you both for your helpful replies. Once he has started his dialysis and hopefully this works for him, I will contact the clubs to see if it is possible to have boxes of fluid delivered if we are staying more than a few days. I’m expecting jt won’t be until next year, but If we do eventually go away in the caravan I will update on the practicalities of continuing to tour whilst on this type of dialysis.
