Does anyone have any recommendations for a reputable dealership?

The nearest one to me is Adwick Caravans - https://www.adwickcaravans.co.uk/ - does anyone have any experience of buying from there?

Are you looking for a motorhome or caravan? You’ve posted in the MH section but I thought you said earlier you wanted a touring caravan.

If it’s in the wrong place, contact the Community Manager who can move it for you. Email is in Community Guidelines.

Read the 15% of bad reviews on trustpilot about Adwick Caravans, then look at UK Campsite reviews of them, then decide. I wouldn't go there but its your choice.

@LiamLoughney there are a lot of caravan dealers in the South/West Yorks area, some big, some small. How good they are for you might depend upon what you are wanting to buy, how much you are willing to spend. The reality probably is that you will get great service when buying, but after that, it’s not uncommon for issues to start as early as actually picking up your new van, and it can and often does get worse with any faults, warranty work, etc……. It shouldn’t happen, but there are great stories, and then there are buying nightmare stories. Don’t go anywhere without doing a lot of research, on the company, on reviews, on warranty work times, and never give any hint that you are novices to buying (if you are). Be very, very wary, get everything in writing, and use a credit card for at least a proportion of any sale, as buyer protection. The Club has guidance on buying, worth a read.

One I would say do not use is Wandahome of South Cave. They had 5 weeks notice of my visit to pick up a new in stock Eriba caravan. I had travelled 320 miles from Devon/Cornwall borders, leaving home at 5.00am. A 1 hour handover became 4 hrs as they were not ready for me. The van had not had a full pdi and the roof was filthy, later taking me two hours to clean and polish. I found unsealed holes in the floor where the mover wires had been fitted, the "engineer" got a shock off the van when he went underneath [I believe it was static] and the habitation battery had to be replaced as the the case was damaged. Various little jobs also needed addressing. The specification on the van also differed to that advertised and I have only recently found out the expensive Garmin media unit is missing.

They are no longer an Eriba dealer, I wonder why?

The OP seems to be collecting info across forums but I’ve yet to hear of him viewing a van or even asking about specific vans. It’s all rather vague at present.

We have friends who took Glossop Caravans to court, and won. It’s a lottery as to how well/badly your buying/maintenance will go.

We have never owned a brand new outfit. We bought a second hand caravan from a local dealer and everything was fine, never had any problems. Same with our MH, we bought second hand from a small independent specialist and had a fabulous buying experience, and other than routine wear and tear, never had any issues. If we wanted another would go back here. That said, we knew what we wanted, we knew how to inspect every nut, bolt and fitting, we had a good idea of market values.
Outfits are very complex nowadays, there’s a lot more that can go wrong, some of the fittings are more bling than practical not designed to stand up to routine usage. So it’s often the manufacturing rather than the dealership that is the issue. But it’s definitely a pack ‘em high, sell ‘em fast business, and once sold, some dealerships are very poor.

@eribaMotters - Wandahome are fairly local to us (well, compared with our dealer in Cumbria!) and I had a similar experience with them when I went to look at a brand new Elegance 635 - fresh out of the factory that day. Vowed I would never darken their doors again!

That’s why they end up dropping a clanger, not enough proper research done. 👍
