Battery Offers
Anyone needing a new battery or wishing to change to Lithium, Amazon Prime have offers on Renogy LiFePO batteries with free postage. My current AGM is 6 years old and not holding its charge so well so I am taking the plunge into Lithium.

Renolgy are built to all the specs but of course the quality of the lithium used is never given. Prices have been falling of late and the price of their 200APH is the same as I paid for my AGM battery. I do not have a Lithium specific set up but by all accounts this should not matter. I have looked at my battery charger specs and the AGM setting meets Lithium requirements as does my MTTP solar controller even though the latter is vastly underpowered. I may have to ultimately upgrade it if I want a faster charge from it. The motorhome alternator should also similarly not be a problem. The offer was too good to pass up for the time I have left to tour and the bottom end of the lithium batteries market should suffice.

@peedee Renolgy are renowned on the CAMOGG Facebook pages for ignoring any communications should there be a problem with their equipment.

It would appear their are offers on other makes e.g. Eco-worthy.

Yes, I’d spotted that. Doing a bit of delving it transpires that there are 3 different grades, A-B-C, with A being the ‘best’, made to a more exacting process, therefore one would expect it to last and perform for much longer. Of course, this aspect may or may not be of importance. Just sayin’ 🙂

I haven't a lot to lose @Freddy55 even with a grade C battery considering a replacement AGM is priced similarly. My original battery was sealed lead acid. I got 7 years of use out of it and thought replacing it with an AGM I might get a bit longer. Its now 6 years old and showing its age! I doubt I will be touring in another 6 years so its unlikely I will be aware of the replacements true performance unless it develops a fault. Its supposed to be guaranteed for 5 years.

Final finished fitting the new battery yesterday. Access to my battery compartment is not easy and it took me two hours to remove the old one, a very heavy180APH AGM one and a half days work the following day to fit the new 200APH lithium one. It was charging ok on the solar panel but not yet checked it on mains or the alternator.
