Swayed to explore Switzerland - Our First Ever Alan Rogers Rally!

You may have spotted it in this month’s magazine – the Alan Rogers Alpine Adventure Rally, set against the spectacular backdrop of the Swiss Alps. This one’s particularly exciting, as it’s our first-ever overseas rally created entirely by the Alan Rogers team – and it’s open to everyone!
If you've travelled to Switzerland before, with your outfit, I’d love to hear what stood out for you – from scenic drives and mountain passes to lakeside stops and peaceful campsites.
Were you one of the lucky ones to snap up one of the last few spaces? Or perhaps you’ve joined the waitlist for the next one? Either way, it’s great to see so much interest and excitement already building.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, stories and what you made of the magazine feature – and as always, I’ll be joining in the conversation too.

There are always reports on here of members going straight through Switzerland on the Gotthard tunnel route to get to Lake Garda, but few say they stop and explore Switzerland - even though theSwiss lakes are beautiful .
Your tour might be tempting for those who are put off by fears of high prices in Switzerland - but the camp sites the tour will be visiting only cost £23 a night in low season for independent travellers with an ACSI Camping Card - and they will be high standard sites, everything in Switzerland is. It’s an interesting tour so I am not surprised it s fully booked and I think the tour members will enjoy It. Switzerland is a remarkable country in many ways and well worth visiting. I hope the tour goes well.1 -
We visited Switzerland on a C&mC holiday rally in 2002. Its a stunning country to visit but very expensive at the time and probably still is. We were based at Camping Lazy Rancho, Interlaken for 13 nights and used public transport to get around the area using a Berner Oberland 15 day pass, by far the cheapest way to see some of the most outstanding sights in the area. It is difficult to single out one in particular but trips to the top of the Jungfraujoch, the Schilthorn, and a mountain walk which was overlooked the north face of the Eiger, the Monch and the Jungfrau provided lasting memories. I note the AR rally only spends three days in this area. Apart from cost it would be difficult to do all these trips in three days. As a rally it looks as though it offers a good introductory taster of Switzerland. However, I think it would have been preferrable to have not included ferry fares but to have left the Channel crossing to indivual choice and to have joined the rally at some point on the Continent. This would have given the freedom of choice of routes to and from the rally and the opportunity to extend the tour on ones own.

Spot on, Peedee. It’s a taster..and sketchy at that. It isn’t an “Alpine Adventure” which is what it it is billed.
And Ben’s heading “Swayed to Explore Switzerland” is wildly inaccurate too - the tour members will simply be escorted to three places. But it will appeal to people who want that. I just hope they might be tempted to go again by themselves and really explore.0 -
Thank you @eurortraveller. It's pleasing to read that you're an advocate of Switzerland and our decision to introduce a rally, that travels to Switzerland, was a good one. We're also grateful of your positive feedback about the campsites and your overall best wishes for our success with the rally.

"If you've travelled to Switzerland before, with your outfit, I’d love to hear what stood out for you"....!
Just returned from a trip to Italy, crossed into Switzerland from France at Vallorbe to get back into France from Geneva. What stood out was €2.00 a Ltr for Diesel...LOL..! Luckily we did not need fuel in Switzerland. Jokes aside, Lake Geneva is impressive. The cheapest we got Diesel was San Marino, €1.39 a Ltr.1 -
Thank you for your feedback @eurortraveller. As you know, I am new to Club Together. I will always intend for my headings to be accurate but if I haven't achieved that on this occasion, I can only apologise. Thank you for your continued contributions and support.
We're confident that this rally will be enjoyed by those attending. And I agree, hopefully, we can create inspiration and a desire for people to explore more on their travels in the future too.0 -
One of my favourite childhood holidays was a summer holiday to Switzerland in our trailer tent. I remember being so in awe of the beautiful scenery, mountains and lakes. We went on lots of walks, cable cars and chair lifts and took the train up the Matterhorn. I loved the ice sculptures and the snowy mountain top. It felt like such an adventure.

Thank you @peedee. I really appreciate your contribution here and your recommendations around public transport and those beautiful highlights of your trip that you enjoyed. I am thankful for your positive comments about this being a good introductory taster of Switzerland, and we're looking forward to operating this trip in September.
In regards to the crossing, we have included this to give a more fair representation of the price of this holiday (including getting to/from the rally). However, we do give customers the flexibility and if they prefer to travel with an alternative operator, such as P&O Ferries or Le Shuttle, our dedicated travel experts will be pleased to create a bespoke quote.

Thank you @Rockybay. It is impressive. I remember flying over it last winter on my way to the Alps, then briefly driving over it when passing through Geneva. I recall thinking I'd like to spend a bit more time in Geneva. I shall add it to my travel wishlist.

I am sure some would prefer to travel with others from the start but that is good to know.
Thanks
