Can anyone help please? The dust shield on the electrically deployed towbar on my Range Rover has perished and leaves the swivel ball joint exposed to dust etc. Although the deployment is still working, and could be cleaned at each deployment as it is only an occassional activity, I would like to fit a new seal.

However Land Rover do not supply a replacement part and only offer a very expensive full replacement towbar at about £2.5k fitted.

The seal is very thin rubber 0.046" thick about 5inches x 4 inches with a 1 inch hole in the middle.

I would be grateful if anyone has had the same issue, and how have they resolved the problem.

Would it be too hard to make one, small sheets of rubber are available on line

Thanks Amesford, That is what I was thinking, but didnt get any help from companies I contacted, but on my way to the local tip just now, I passed a tyre depot and called in to ask about inner tubes. They gave me an old one which I can try to make a template from and if it is a good job, I will buy a new one for the final fit.

As its only to keep the the dirt out I would stick with your inner tube and make a couple for stock

This reminds me of days gone by when people used tennis balls with a hole cut out to pop over oily towballs. Dogs had a habit of stealing them😀
